When it comes to running backs, the New York Jets have a superstar in the making. Breece Hall, a three-year running back, is one of the most explosive playmakers in the NFL.
He’s an absolute physical specimen, and he put up spectacular numbers both running and receiving to prove it. What’s even more impressive about Hall’s performance is that he was limited at the start of the 2023 season while still recovering from the ACL injury he suffered in his rookie season.
THE Jugo Mobile”Vinnie Iyer published an article listing his top 30 RBs and Hall was naturally at the top of the list. Hall was ranked behind Christian McCaffery as the second-best RB in football and that’s a perfect spot for the second-round pick in the 2022 draft.
Iyer said Hall “is an ace receiver and a dangerous runner who is ready for another smash.” That’s a solid description of Hall, and his numbers back up his sentiment. Hall ranked fourth in the NFL in scrimmage yards (1,585) as a running back, second only to McCaffery among leaders at the position.
He has a total of nine touchdowns in his first two seasons with the Jets and should look to improve his numbers this season with a new offensive line. In 2023, he ran behind a bottom-ranked offensive line that featured an NFL-high 13 different combinations. General manager Joe Douglas did a fantastic job this offseason adding Hall of Fame left tackle Tyron Smith, left guard John Simpson and right tackle Morgan Moses. The third-year veteran should be much more effective on the ground not only because of his new line, but also with QB Aaron Rodgers hopefully able to move the ball down the field.
Hall, the 36th overall pick in 2022, is arguably this team’s No. 1 offensive option. The Jets are going to be a run-oriented offense and will use play action after Hall wore down defenses with his 5-foot-11, 216-pound frame. He’s a big guy, but the man Jets fans call “Breece Lightning” underestimated the speed he displayed on numerous occasions last season.
A healthy Hall will be essential for the Jets to score points. The Jets’ defense will be among the best in football, but if the Jets want to be a Super Bowl contender, they need to be able to score and Hall is the catalyst that makes that possible.
