Every year, NBA teams go into the season hoping that they can avoid any major injuries throughout the long season. The truth is that injuries are a part of the game and it’s not a question of if they’ll happen, but when. Luckily, the Miami Heat have received some good news as the season approaches.
The Heat faltered last season after being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics. Injuries played a big part in the team’s disappointing year, but the team is poised to have one of its best seasons yet. The best shooters are healthy when training camp begins.
“I feel great,” Duncan Robinson said in a conversation with local Miami reporters. “We took all the necessary steps, seeing who we needed to see. We had no restrictions. We were unrestricted for the better part of eight weeks. We’re playing pickup. No limitations.”
Robinson missed the final 14 games of the regular season with a back injury last year. The sharpshooter managed to return to the Heat’s lineup in the playoffs, but it was clear the Michigan product wasn’t averaging 2.6 points in five games against the Celtics.
The forward went undrafted in 2018, but he has become an offensive weapon in Miami under Erik Spoelstra. With a 40.2 percent three-point shooting percentage over his five-year career, Robinson is best known for his off-the-ball movement and ability to position himself and shoot from anywhere on the court.
With the 30-year-old healthy, he could play a pivotal role for Miami as the Heat look to get back into contention.
