Retirement is a sensitive topic for diehard NBA fans to discuss, but it’s inevitable for every active NBA player.
A dynamic Golden State Warriors guard and future Hall of Famer may call it quits at the end of next season.
“Real NBA Fans have come to terms with the fact that all time greats like Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Lebron James, & others are going to retire soon,” The Wrightway Sports Network’s Alamedad wrote Wednesday.
“Steph did a podcast recently with Lebron & Durant where they had an honest conversation about their past and future.”
“Steph was honest about this season and his future saying, it’s ok to accept and acknowledge that the end is near.”
“With the state of the Warriors, they really have one last push with Draymond Green and company. This makes sense why they’re going after players like Jimmy Butler & Dennis Schröder.”
“If this were to fail, then the Warriors have a long road ahead, and there’s a chance Steph could just hang it up.”
Curry’s three-point-heavy style of play may not appeal to every spectator, but there’s no denying that the Davidson product is one of the most accomplished players in NBA history.
Curry has received 10 All-Star invitations, won two MVP awards, secured two scoring titles, and guided the Warriors to four championships since 2015.
While Curry is still playing high-level basketball in Year 16, averaging 22.5 points per game on 44.4% field goal shooting and 41.1% three-point shooting, the Warriors have struggled to find their rhythm this season.
The organization is 15-14 after suffering a heartbreaking Christmas Day defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Curry will continue to carry the load for the Warriors for now, but the best long-range shooter of all time may move on from the big leagues soon if he doesn’t receive the proper help.
