Klay Thompson was one of the biggest names available in NBA free agency. The Warriors star was set to become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career and was expected to leave Golden State after 11 quality seasons.
It looks like Thompson will be taking his talents to Dallas. He will reportedly join the Mavericks on a three-year, $50 million contract in hopes of bringing another championship to the team.
Thompson has won championships frequently during his NBA career. The Warriors built a dynasty in the 2010s and, along with Stephen Curry, Thompson was a driving force behind the offense’s three-point mentality.

Thompson has won four NBA championships during his career, all with the Warriors. They were in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022.
Thompson’s first title was the fourth in Golden State franchise history. The Warriors beat LeBron James’ Cavaliers in six games, and Thompson complemented his “Splash Brother” by averaging 15.8 points per game. Thompson shot just 40.9 percent from the field and 30.0 percent from 3-point range, but still gave the team the momentum to pull out a win.
Thompson’s next two titles also came against the Cavaliers. He averaged 16.4 points per game on 42.5 percent 3-point shooting in 2017 and then averaged 16.0 points on 42.9 percent 3-point shooting in Golden State’s sweep of Cleveland in 2018.
