Live streams on TikTok have become almost as popular as other forms of content on the platform. However, viewers may find the constant stream of on-screen comments annoying when watching a stream.
On TikTok, you may find yourself regularly following your favorite influencer’s live streams, or maybe you stumble upon certain creators’ streams on your For You page. Either way, if you’ve ever watched a live stream on TikTok, you’ve probably noticed that viewers’ live comments scroll across the video.
If you find that the screen is getting a little cluttered and you want to make the viewing experience more comfortable, here’s how to hide those comments.

How to Hide Chat When Watching TikTok Live
It might not seem obvious at first glance, but hiding comments on TikTok Live is actually a super quick and easy process once you know how to do it.
The first option is to press the “Clear Display” button. You can access this button by first clicking on the share icon in the lower right part of the screen. Then, in the box that appears, tap “Clear View” to clear the chat.
If you don’t have this button or it doesn’t appear, there is another method to hide comments. Just follow these instructions:
- Open TikTok.
- Find the Live you want to watch.
- Swipe right on the screen to delete the comments. All that should remain is the creator’s name, the exit button, and the video itself.
- To retrieve the comments, simply swipe left.
This can make watching live streams on TikTok a much more comfortable experience, as you won’t have to worry about comments blocking important parts of the screen.
