Jack Catterall is ready to raise his hand this time against Josh Taylor following their latest controversial clash. Meanwhile, Taylor looks to go 2-0 against “El Gato.” Something has to give when they fight in the ring once again.
The two fought in February 2022, with Taylor’s status as undisputed super lightweight champion on the line. Taylor won by split decision, which to this day is still disputed. Catterall knocked Taylor down in the eighth round and cut him above the eye. Both were deducted one point.

For two years, a rematch was hinted at. A February 2023 fight was canceled following a scheduling conflict, followed by Taylor suffering a torn plantar fascia. Since then, Catterall fought twice, while Taylor was stripped of several belts and lost the rest to Teofimo Lopez. The rematch was eventually scheduled for April, but an eye procedure for Taylor delayed it a month.
Former contender Catterall is finally looking to get his hands on Taylor, with the latter being the favorite in the fight.
“It was for 18 months before the first fight, then they put it aside for over a year waiting for the fight, and then we had the fight, and it’s been non-stop after the fight. I’m sick of talking about it,” he said Catterall via BBC.com.
“I understand it’s part of my journey, part of Josh’s journey, we’ll always be linked, but being able to go to the park with my daughter and go shopping and not be asked, ‘When is the fight going to happen?’ What’s going on?’ “It’ll be good to leave him in bed for a while.”
