Jamie Foxx is shedding more light on the “medical complication” that landed him in the hospital last year.
The actor told a group of people at a restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona, that he was hospitalized after taking Advil for a headache.
“Look, on April 11th of last year, I had a bad headache and asked my son for an Advil. I was out of action for 20 days,” he says, snapping his fingers. clip circulating in X (formerly known as Twitter). “I don’t remember anything. I’m in Atlanta, they told me… my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor. They gave me a cortisone shot.
“The next doctor said, ‘Something’s going on up there,’” he continues, pointing to his head. “I won’t say it on camera.”
Jamie’s daughter Corinne Foxx revealed in April 2023 that her father suffered an undisclosed medical emergency and was immediately hospitalized while filming his upcoming project. Netflix comedy Back in actiona film that will mark Cameron Diaz’s return to acting.
“Thankfully, thanks to quick action and excellent care, he is now recovering,” she said in her statement. “We know how much we love him and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”
The following month, she announced that Jamie had been out of the hospital “weeks ago” and was already back playing pickleball.

She opened up about her mysterious illness in July 2023, telling her followers that she “didn’t want to [them] to see [him] how that.”
“I didn’t want them to see me with tubes coming out of my body and trying to figure out if I was going to survive,” she said, before praising her daughter and sister for saving her life. “I can’t tell you how good it feels to have your family step in like that, and you all know that they kept it tight, they didn’t let anything slip through, they protected me, and that’s what I hope everyone can have in times like these.”
Jamie returned to filming Back in action in January 2024, according to Entertainment TonightThe film will begin streaming on Netflix on November 15.
