New signing Jesper Lindstrom has been welcomed with open arms at Everton, after completing a season-long loan at Goodison Park on Friday.
The Danish international will spend the 2024/25 season with the Toffees, with an option to make the move permanent next summer.
The deal includes a €2.5 million ($2.7 million) loan with an option to buy for €22.5 million ($24.4 million). Everton will cover his salary and there is the possibility of a future contract running until June 2029.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has been the subject of rave reviews from fans and pundits alike, with Everton looking for an injection of dynamism into midfield following Amadou Onana’s move to Aston Villa.
But there’s a little-known fact about Lindstrom that might surprise some Toffees fans.

Jesper Lindstrom reveals Liverpool links
It turns out that Lindstrom is a self-confessed Liverpool fan.
The Dane first revealed he was a supporter of Everton’s Premier League rivals in an interview with a newspaper in his home country last year, openly declaring his passion for the Reds.
He may have endeared himself to his new club a little more by revealing that he turned down the chance to join the Anfield club last summer when he left Eintracht Frankfurt.
In a September 2023 interview with Blade tipLindstrom said he was approached by then Reds boss Jürgen Klopp but chose Napoli because he wanted guaranteed playing time.
In that interview, he said: “It was Liverpool[who approached him]and I’m a Liverpool fan, so it would have been an incredibly fascinating experience, but would it have been a smart decision?”
“If I’m not playing, I’d rather sit in front of the TV and watch them play there while I’m at another club. I’m at an age where I have to play football.
“That’s why I think Napoli is a good change. It’s one of the best clubs in the world and I’ve been told I’ll have plenty of opportunities to play.”
Lindstrom’s arrival marks Everton’s fourth signing of the summer, following the acquisitions of Tim Iroegbunam, Iliman Ndiaye and the return of Jack Harrison from loan.
