The 2025 NFL season didn’t go as planned for the Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Burrow got hurt early in the year, the defense wasn’t great, and the team finished with a mediocre record.
Another missed playoffs, and in the wake of such a reality, Burrow’s comments got Bengals fans worried he’d request a trade. But, in the weeks since, he’s downplayed all of those rumors and has indicated he’s not going anywhere.
And according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the latest update on a Burrow trade amid speculation from the end of the year is a good one for Bengals fans. Burrow is, as expected, not going anywhere.

“Despite the hopes and dreams of Minnesota Vikings fans, the Cincinnati Bengals have no intention of trading Joe Burrow – to Minnesota or anywhere else,” Russini writes.
Burrow would surely draw a massive trade return, but the Bengals have no such plans to move on from their franchise quarterback.
This is hardly a surprise, but considering how the end of the year went for the Bengals and Burrow’s concerning comments, a trade was a non-zero possibility.
The three-time Pro Bowl quarterback, who is the current NFL leader all-time for career completion percentage with 68.5%, is not going to be traded this offseason.

While there might be more trade proposals, predictions, pitches, and speculation this offseason, the Bengals will not be moving on from Burrow based on this report from Russini and common sense.
Trading him away would be completely resetting, and that’s not where the Bengals are as a franchise. They have Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase.
Pairing them with a mediocre QB would be a mistake. But with Burrow, as long as the defense can get better, they will have what it takes to be a playoff team and the firepower to return to the Super Bowl.
Bengals fans can rest easy knowing Burrow is going nowhere. Russini’s report clearly indicates a deal isn’t going to happen, but even without it, there would be no reason for the Bengals to make this trade.
