Kevin De Bruyne is set to play his final match for Manchester City on Sunday against Fulham.
The Belgium star was given a hero’s farewell at the Etihad Stadium this week following City’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth. The midfielder had previously announced he would be leaving at the end of the season when his contract expires.
There has been plenty of speculation over his future, particularly since De Bruyne himself insisted it was not entirely his decision to leave and that he felt he still had plenty to offer at the highest level. Now, it seems as though he will get the chance to prove himself.
According to the Mail’s Jack Gaughan, De Bruyne is set to sign for Napoli over the coming two weeks, with a deal to be finalised once City’s Premier League season has concluded.

Jack Gaughan of the Mail wrote on May 24 that De Bruyne would sign for Napoli in the two weeks after the Premier League season concluded on May 25.
The report came after weeks of speculation over the player’s plans. Along with the Napoli links, De Bruyne was said to be a firm target of MLS side Chicago Fire. However, De Bruyne’s determination to show he is still able to play in Europe’s toughest leagues may have swayed his decision.

Kevin De Bruyne contract, salary with Napoli
De Bruyne is reportedly keen for a two-year contract with the Serie A champions. The length of the deal is not likely to be an issue for Napoli, but his wages could be an obstacle.
One of the highest earners in the Premier League, De Bruyne’s contract with City is worth approximately £400,00 ($537,000) per week, or £20.8 ($27.9m) million a year. Those sort of wages are well beyond Napoli’s capability.
According to Capology, Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is the highest-paid player in Italy’s top league, earning around £315,000 ($424,000) per week.
Napoli’s top earner is De Bruyne’s compatriot, Romelu Lukaku, who is paid around £125,000 ($166,000) per week. In other words, De Bruyne will almost certainly need to take a large pay cut to secure an agreement.
