New York Knicks forward Julius Randle is approaching a big season to prove his worth on a potential championship-contending team.
Randle was in great shape last season when he dislocated his shoulder, which caused him to miss the rest of the season. In his absence, the Knicks played 50 games and reached the second round of the playoffs, one win away from an appearance in the Eastern Conference finals.
Randle is now set to return while facing questions about his fit on a revamped Knicks team.
Knicks legend Larry Johnson isn’t worried about how Randle will adjust. appearing on “Knicks Fan TV,” Johnson, the author of the famous four-point gameset the bar high and made bold predictions about how good Randle can be when he returns this season.
“The main thing is to make sure he’s healthy, make sure his health is there,” Johnson said. “Because he’s had a great year. He’s had a great year. If he’s healthy and he comes back, Jalen [Brunson] and the rest of the team, they all respect him. Thibs knows what to do [do]”Thibs respects him. We’ll be able to put him in a position to be more successful for himself and for the team. He’s an All-Star, he’s a veteran now… I think the sky’s the limit for Julius, even MVP for Julius.”
Randle is a three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection. He averaged 23 points, 10 rebounds and five assists per game over his last four seasons, putting up impressive numbers.
Still, an MVP selection for Randle is a bold Johnson’s Prediction: Randle will have to fight for MVP consideration because he’ll have to have a better season than Brunson, who finished fifth in MVP voting last year.
If Randle is in the MVP conversation at the end of the season, then things will have apparently gone very well (or badly) for the Knicks this year.
