The New York Knicks must find a big man to help complement Karl-Anthony Towns in the low post.
A Utah Jazz rising star would be a valuable asset in a Knicks uniform.
“Walker Kessler has been subject to trade rumors going back to last season, most notably linked with the Los Angeles Lakers,” Last Word on Sports’ Aaron J Zacharias wrote Monday.
“The Utah Jazz are going nowhere fast, and they appear to be a team ready and willing to listen to offers on several of their players, Kessler included.”
“Kessler would provide a more offensive upside than (Andre) Drummond, and he also averages more in rebounds and adds 2.9 blocks per game on top of it all.”
“Kessler is an attractive trade piece, given that he’s a great defensive player with a high offensive upside. That combo is something that (Jalen) Brunson could work with when KAT (Karl-Anthony Towns) is off the floor.”
The Jazz will miss the postseason this year, but the organization has a promising young frontcourt asset who produces on both ends of the floor.
As one of the most efficient low-post operators and daunting shot blockers in the league, Kessler averages 10.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game on 72.2% field goal shooting.
The Auburn product would undoubtedly give the Knicks the boost they desperately need in the frontcourt.
Unfortunately for New York, though, there’s a good chance the Jazz will keep Kessler around for the long haul and attempt to maximize his potential.
