Peaky Blinders fans just got a top to some interesting news.
Netflix announced a Peaky Blinders movie on Tuesday and revealed that series star Cillian Murphy will return to reprise his role as Tommy Shelby.
The streaming giant’s announcement included an image of the script, which also lists Tom Harper as director and lists series creator Steven Knight as the film’s writer.
Murphy shared the following statement in Tuesday’s announcement:
“It seems that Tommy Shelby was not done with me… It is very gratifying to collaborate again with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. “This one is for the fans.”
Knight, the series creator, had confirmed in March that Murphy would “definitely return” to the new film, saying Birmingham World“We’ll be filming it in September, just down the road in Digbeth,” according to Variety.
In light of Tuesday’s announcement, Knight said he’s “really excited that this movie is about to happen,” according to Deadline.
