Aniplex Online Fest 2024 brought a wide range of anime announcements, one of which reveals that Madoka Magica studio SHAFT will soon be releasing a brand new sci-fi anime.
Aniplex Online Fest 2024 has unveiled a thrilling trailer for an original anime from studio SHAFT, which also worked on the acclaimed dark fantasy film Madoka Magica. This upcoming anime film will feature designs and concepts from Yasuomi Umetsu, director of the iconic retro anime Kite and Mezzo Forte.
Written by Yuta Takahashi of the Kamen Rider series and the drama Mountain Doctor, Virgin Punk follows the struggles of Ubu, a bounty hunter, and his girlfriend.
The first installment, Clockwork Girl, will be screened at Cine Libre Ikebukuro and Umeda Theater in Osaka in early summer 2025. Virgin Punk is expected to be released in Japanese theaters around the same time. The studio has also released a trailer, which you can watch below.
This 90-second teaser depicts a world set in 2099, and follows a mysterious young girl who is confused about her surroundings before fleeing the place. Fans are eager to see this captivating footage with beautiful animation and are praising the studio behind it.
