Michael Thomas has yet to find a home for the 2024 NFL season. Even if he did, he wouldn’t be able to participate in the Week 1 festivities.
Thomas has been suspended for one game, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The free agent outfielder will not be allowed to showcase his talents in league play from Sept. 5-9.
Thomas is far from his prime. He hasn’t played more than 10 games since 2019, the season he recorded 149 receptions for 1,725 yards and nine touchdowns en route to AP Offensive Player of the Year honors. The two-time All-Pro talent is just 31. But it’s not clear any team will give him a chance, especially given his injury issues.
Friday’s announcement will do little to help his cause.

Why was Michael Thomas suspended?
Thomas was suspended for one game for violating the NFL’s “personal conduct” policy. The suspension follows his arrest in November 2023.

The 31-year-old is currently out of contract and will not be signed during the 2024 offseason.
Michael Thomas Arrested
Thomas was arrested on November 10, 2023, in Kenner, Louisiana, and charged with simple battery and criminal mischief.
The charges related to an incident between Thomas and a construction worker who was working on a house under construction in the same neighborhood as Thomas.
According to the Kenner Police Department, Thomas allegedly threatened the worker before throwing a brick at the windshield of the worker’s truck after he pulled out his phone to film Thomas. He is also accused of shoving the worker and knocking his phone out of his hands.
Thomas was cooperative during the KPD investigation and was released shortly after his arrest.
In March, Michelle Hunter of NOLA.com It was reported that Thomas completed a six-month pre-trial diversion program. At the end of the program, the charges against Thomas are expected to be dropped.
