Arsenal head into their weekend Premier League derby at Tottenham thanks to a major boost with Mikel Arteta agreeing a contract extension with the club.
Arteta has opted to extend his link with the Emirates Stadium until 2027 as he seeks to end the Gunners’ two-decade wait for an EPL title this season.
The Spaniard has secured successive second-place finishes in the last two campaigns, losing out to Pep Guardiola and Manchester City on each occasion.
However, as the gap between the two teams narrows, Arteta has been backed to push on and secure a major trophy for Arsenal in the coming months.
A trip to north London is always a major event for both sets of supporters and the Arsenal faithful will be encouraged by Arteta’s recent record against their old foes.

Arteta became the fourth-fastest Premier League manager to record 100 top-flight wins in April, with his side winning 3-2 away to Spurs.
The feat was achieved after 169 games, ahead of former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who needed 179 games to reach 100.
In addition to his first-to-100 rate, Arteta also now has a higher win ratio than Wenger (albeit based on a much shorter period in charge) at 59.23% in all competitions with Wenger at 57.25%.
Ahead of the derby, Arsenal fans will be keen to know his record against Spurs, and he already has a better start-of-season return than Wenger, based on his first nine Premier League games against them.
Of those nine games, Arteta has won four, including two consecutive away victories, while Wenger’s first nine Premier League clashes with Tottenham from 1996 to 2000 yielded just three wins.
