The My Hero Academia anime is currently adapting some of the manga’s biggest moments, but one scene from the latest episode left viewers surprised.
My Hero Academia ended this summer, but the anime continues to wreak havoc. Season 7 depicted the first half of the big battle against Shigaraki and All For One, with Deku and Class 1-A taking on the big baddie.
Many heroes and villains go after the antagonist, including Tokoyami, whose Dark Shadow Quirk has the potential to cause Ragnarok and create a real headache for any opponent. We don’t go that far, but a hilarious scene from the manga is still appropriate.
At that moment, Tokoyami has a vision of Hawks, his icon. This causes a flood of emotions that manifests itself in a vision of Hawks’ heart and an incredible reaction from Tokoyami that is simply ideal for memes in the years to come.
“Big thanks for the hilarious moment when Camie’s Hawks illusion freaked out Tokoyami,” said one Redditor observed. “Speaking of Tokoyami, he once again shows how OP Dark Shadow is when he has enough darkness to really let loose. I also loved the cute shot of baby Tokoyami and Dark Shadow.”
This was the general reaction, as people enjoyed seeing both sides of the blackbird-headed hero. “Tokoyami’s live reaction panel was incorporated into the anime! 18 months in the making!” read another comment.
“The best player in this episode was Tokoyami. First of all, I love that they animated THAT panel of him and his Light of Baldur move was awesome,” another added.
The episode ends with Dark Shadow going after Shigaraki, so we’ll see the fallout next week – the perfect kind of cliffhanger for a superhero anime.
