When shooting in NBA 2K25, players will have a good idea of how successful their shot is based on the timing of the shot gauge. Perfectly timed shots result in a perfect shot. You don’t always need a perfect shot to score, but these shots create the highest probability of doing so.
In addition to timing, the shot indicator also takes into account how open a player is when positioning himself for a jump shot. And every pro has a unique shooting technique, so timing varies. Likewise, players have their own shot preferences.

Here’s everything you need to know about changing or disabling the shot counter.
- From the main menu, navigate to Features
- Scroll down to the right and select Customize the HUD
- On the Categories page, select Shot counter
Once you are in the Shot Meter section, you can customize the visibility, size, placement, and graph type of the shot meter.
It is also possible to change the shot counter during a game.
- Pause the game
- Scroll down to Options
- Select Customize HUD
- Access the shot counter
How to change or disable the shot counter in My Career
And if you want to change these settings in My Career, here’s what’s required.
- From the My Career main menu, scroll down to the My Player tab
- Select animations
- Once you’re there, go to Customize HUD
