NBA fans are unforgiving of former Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons for a variety of reasons.
For once, the hate is a little unwarranted. Simmons posted a photo to his Instagram story on Monday of him and former Sixers teammate Matisse Thybulle working out together. It wasn’t long before the public began criticizing the former Philadelphia player’s lack of shooting prowess.

The first pick in the 2016 NBA Draft and his teammate played two seasons together in Philadelphia. They were the two best campaigns of Simmons’ career, both of which saw him selected for the All-Star Game. On the other hand, Thybulle arrived as a late first-round pick and made an immediate impact on the defensive end.

As the community was quick to point out, defense was never an issue. It was shooting, specifically from the three-point line. Thybulle shot less than 36% from the arc in his first three seasons, scoring a career-low 313% in 2022.

While Scouts knew Simmons’ shot needed a lot of work after leaving LSU.Most expected improvements to come over time. Instead, he didn’t even attempt a three-point shot until his third year. He has yet to shoot over 30% in his eight years in the NBA.
