The Phoenix Suns have some of the league’s best players on their roster, led by Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. Plus, the Western Conference contenders could have another future star on their bench.
The NBA is a challenge for many players transitioning from college to the league. Some players need years of development to reach their potential, while others are ready to hit the ground running. That said, one former NBA legend believes this Suns player could be a game-changer for Phoenix if he continues to develop.
“Bol Bol is an elite talent. I played with Bol’s father, Manute (Bol), and he didn’t have the talent that his son has,” Ralph Sampson told Dana Scott of the Arizona Republic. “He can change the game if he wants to, but he has to want to do it, and you have to have that guts.”
The former second-round pick spent time with several teams early in his NBA career. Now, it appears the Oregon product has found his niche in Phoenix. The Oregon product averaged 5.2 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting 61.6 percent from the field and 42.3 percent from three-point range in limited time with the Suns last season.
If Bol can impress new head coach Mike Budenholzer early on, the 7-foot-3 point guard could be a key contributor to Phoenix’s future.
