NBA legend James Worthy believes the Phoenix Suns star forward Kevin Durant should be in the conversation for the title of “greatest player of all time” (GOAT)Currently, the GOAT conversation is between Michael Jordan and Lebron James.
“I love his range, the way he can get to the three-point range, you can’t stop him in the mid-range game, he’s a really good defensive player, and he doesn’t get talked about enough,” Worthy said. “If you’re talking about the top seven players that could be the best of all time, he’s one of them in my opinion. He’s just a phenomenal player.”
Durant certainly has a Hall of Fame career. A four-time scoring champion, two-time NBA champion, two-time Finals MVP, a regular season MVP, a ROTY selection and a 14-time All-Star. Over his career, he averaged 27 points, seven rebounds and four assists per game, shooting nearly 40 percent from three-point range despite standing at 7’4″.
Should he be in the GOAT conversation? Probably not, because the players ahead of him, like James and Jordan, have such legendary and iconic careers that they can only be compared to each other. However, KD is definitely a top 10 player of all time and a top three wing player. He has the honors and he brought a whole new style of play with his size. No other 7-foot-4 player can move or shoot like him, and the only person who might be capable of it is Victor Wembanyama.
