Two top-class and in-form European teams face off in the Nations League group stage as Germany travel to Amsterdam to take on the Netherlands on Tuesday.
Both nations convincingly won their opening group game of the current Nations League tournament, with Germany crushing Hungary 5-0 and the Netherlands thrashing Bosnia and Herzegovina 5-2.
No one on either team has scored more than one goal in those two games, splitting 10 goals evenly across the two games. That’s a strong indication that both attacking units are not only firing on all cylinders, but also healthy and have solid depth of talent.
Both teams will be hoping to take another step forward in their preparations for the 2026 World Cup after good, but not particularly impressive, results at Euro 2024 this summer. Germany’s quarter-final loss to Spain in extra time would have been seen as more of a home disappointment had Spain not gone on to win the title, while the Netherlands lost to eventual runners-up England in the semi-finals.

Netherlands vs Germany Prediction, Odds
- Skinny Moneyline: Draw (+250)
- Score prediction: Netherlands 2-2 Germany
These two teams are very evenly matched and there is no reason why they should not be very tough against each other. They have drawn twice in their last five meetings and finished with a one-goal margin in two others, which suggests that there have been a lot of close encounters of late.
Germany are probably the better team on paper, but they have played so many home games in the past year after hosting Euro 2024 that it is hard to know how they will handle travelling away for the first time since a 2-0 win in France last March. They needed an 85th-minute winner from Niclas Fullkrug to beat the Netherlands at home the last time they met, so a trip to Amsterdam could swing the game enough in the hosts’ favour to get a result.

Netherlands vs Germany: Best Bet
- Take: Over 3.5 goals in total
- Odds: +150 (BetMGM)
After the high-flying performances from both teams in their opening games of the international window, and in today’s crowded betting market, it’s a shock that the goal total in this match isn’t higher.
This is especially true considering that the Netherlands conceded two goals against an atrophied Bosnian attack, in addition to their five goals, while Germany conceded over 1.0 xG against Hungary despite keeping a clean sheet.
It’s clear that both teams want to attack at will, while allowing themselves to be somewhat open in defence, and while it’s hard to imagine either team repeating a five-goal performance on their own, they could do so collectively.
Netherlands vs Germany Prop Bet
- Take: Jamal Musiala will score or assist
- Odds: +160 (FanDuel)
- Take: Florian Wirtz will score or assist
- Odds: +140 (FanDuel)
- Take: Kai Havertz will score or assist
- Odds: +170 (FanDuel)
Take your pick, the value of these three German stars on the team sheet is enormous. No, Germany won’t score five goals today, but they should find space to create chances and trouble the Dutch net, and all three are in fine form.
Jamal Musiala, who has finally found his stride with the national team, is by far the best choice. At just 21, Musiala has had a slow start to his career with the Mannschaft despite his rise with Bayern Munich. But he has come into his own over the past calendar year, scoring 10 goals in his last 12 international appearances, including three goals at Euro 2024 and a one-goal, three-assist outburst against Hungary last time out.
If you’re still not convinced by the youngster’s consistency, try one of the other playmakers in the squad. Florian Wirtz is a genuine star, scoring and assisting against Hungary, which has seen him contribute four times in the last six games. Meanwhile, Kai Havertz looks revitalised after looking shattered during his Chelsea days, with six international goals and one assist since last November.
Any will do here, and you’ll still benefit if you pick two and only hit one, but go for Musiala who is not only in the best form but also had an assist the last time these two teams met.
