NFL Predictions Against the Spread for Week 4
-
Midweek Match: Cowboys (-4.5, 44 o/u) at Giants
Thursday 8:15 p.m. ET, Amazon Prime Video
The Cowboys have a hard time stopping the run, and this is how the Giants can stay in the game early and avoid bad pressure situations for Daniel Jones while he battles Dak Prescott. Expect Devin Singletary and Malik Nabers to make a big offensive impact, but ultimately Prescott and CeeDee Lamb will be the most healthy offensive combination in TNF and keep Dallas from falling to 1-3.
Take: The Cowboys win 23-20 but fail to cover the deficit.

Game of the week: Bills vs. Ravens (-2.5, 45.5 o/u)
Sunday 8:20 p.m. ET, NBC
The Bills have enjoyed running the ball to support Josh Allen in their diverse and balanced offense. The Ravens can run relentlessly at a high level with Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, and that’s how they attack Buffalo’s defense. Allen will have turnover issues against Baltimore’s back end after the Ravens put a lot of pressure on him inside.
Take: The Ravens win 23-20 and cover the spread.
-
Game of the week: Jets (-7, 38.5 o/u) vs. Broncos
Sunday 1 p.m. ET, CBS
Bo Nix will continue to replace former Jets first-round pick Zach Wilson. With Wilson on the bench, this becomes a juicy rematch against Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who went (nearly) one-on-one as the Broncos’ coach before eventually being replaced by Sean Payton. Aaron Rodgers started rolling Last week, Denver couldn’t stop New York duo Breece Hall and Braelon Allen. Robert Saleh’s defense could then attack Nix and force big takeaways, much to Hackett’s delight.
Take: The Jets win 27-10 and cover the spread.

Surprise of the week: Commanders (+5, 48.5 o/u) vs. Cardinals
Sunday 4:05 p.m. ET, Fox
Here’s another rematch between coaches, as the Commanders’ offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury to return to ArizonaHe’ll help Dan Quinn find schematic ways to stop his former prized quarterback, Kyler Murray, while allowing his new quarterback model, Jayden Daniels, to throw a little deeper to a favorable spot. Washington feels at home in Arizona, overcoming a desert trap.
Take: The commanders win 27-24.

Take: The Falcons win 27-20 and cover the spread.
-
Bengals (-5.5, 47.5 o/u) at the Panthers
Sunday 1pm ET, Fox
Here’s another rematch, as Andy Dalton faces Joe Burrow and his original team, the Bengals. The Red Rifle was spot on all over the field in Las Vegas and will be aggressive again in trying to keep up with Burrow. Unfortunately, the Bengals defense has a few more players who can get to him, while Burrow will have time to dismantle the Panthers with his top receivers.
Take: The Bengals win 30-20 and cover the spread.
-
Rams vs. Bears (-2.5, 41 o/u)
Sunday 1pm ET, Fox
Matthew Stafford faces a former NFC North opponent in what could be his final start in Chicago. Expect the Rams to rely on a run-oriented game plan with limited receivers against a brutal pass defense on the outside. Kyren Williams can move the ball for LA, but the other Williams, Caleb, will build on the momentum of last week’s multiple TDs to destroy a struggling pass defense at home.
Take: The Bears win 24-20 and cover the spread.
-
Vikings vs. Packers (-2.5, 43.5 o/u)
Sunday 1 p.m. ET, CBS
The Vikings are uncertain about Sam Darnold and his knee injury, while the Packers are more optimistic about Jordan Love’s return. Matt LaFleur is on fire with his offensive playmaking, both run and pass, while the same can be said for Brian Flores’ work with Minnesota’s defense. There are some concessions to be made, and we give the advantage to the hosts at Lambeau.
Take: The Packers win 22-17 and cover the spread.

-
Jaguars vs. Texans (-4.5, 45 o/u)
Sunday 1 p.m. ET, CBS
Trevor Lawrence will work to make the Jaguars more competitive against C.J. Stroud, but beyond their running game, they have identity and injury issues. Stroud should finally see a secondary against which he can put his top three receivers to offset concerns in the running game. Lawrence is digging deep to keep his team in the game, but Stroud has too much going on around him.
Take: The Texans win 24-20 but fail to cover the gap.
-
Steelers (-1.5, 40 o/u) at Colts
Sunday 1 p.m. ET, CBS
This is an atrocious matchup for the Colts. They can’t stop power plays or QBs who run, which plays into the hands of Najee Harris and Justin Fields. They also give up big passing plays outside, which isn’t good against George Pickens. Anthony Richardson struggles to get through while having limited impact on the run game on the other side. TJ Watt and the Steelers defense won’t allow him to break out of his sophomore slump.
Take: The Steelers win 23-13 and cover the spread.
-
Eagles (-2.5, 45 o/u) at Buccaneers
Sunday 1pm ET, Fox
The Eagles could be without DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown for Jalen Hurts, who relies more on Saquon Barkley and Dallas Goedert. Hurts and Philadelphia have lost to Tampa Bay in two of the last three playoff series, but they’ll be ready here after getting their defense back on track thanks to Vic Fangio last week. Baker Mayfield will do his best to hang with Hurts, thanks to his two-receiver advantage, but the Buccaneers’ rushing attack can’t do that here.
Take: The Eagles win 24-20 and cover the spread.
-
Patriots vs. 49ers (-10.5, 40 o/u)
Sunday 4:05 p.m. ET, Fox
The 49ers need to crush someone after a 1-2 start to the season. The Patriots will be that team and provide a much-needed offensive and defensive break for the injury-riddled Niners. Brock Purdy loves to pass at home and will build on his great game in Los Angeles last week. The Patriots will have limited success moving the ball on the Niners as Jacoby Brissett remains overwhelmed.
Take: The 49ers win 24-10 and cover the spread.

This game should be a marquee matchup with Patrick Mahomes vs. Justin Herbert on the undercard, following Andy Reid vs. Jim Harbaugh. However, Herbert re-aggravated his foot injury in the loss to Pittsburgh, and the Chargers could be stuck with a run-heavy game plan and a backup QB. Harbaugh, however, will find a way to get his team through this as the Chargers defense does its best to thwart Mahomes in the red zone. It’s likely, however, that the Chargers won’t have enough power to win late in the game.
Take: The Chiefs win 23-17 but fail to cover the gap.
-
Browns vs. Raiders (-1, 37.5 o/u)
Sunday 4:25 p.m. ET, CBS
The Raiders will have to live up to Antonio Pierce after he sleepwalked through their Week 3 home opener loss to the Panthers. Gardner Minshew will have to let loose more against a good receiving corps. Maxx Crosby will challenge the defense to get after Deshaun Watson. Pierce’s motivation is working, while Watson is making more moves on the road.
Take: The Raiders win 20-17 and cover the spread.
-
Titans vs. Dolphins (pick ’em, 37 o/u)
Monday 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
The Dolphins would benefit from playing Tyler Huntley at QB and attacking the Titans with a potent ground attack. Huntley can also unlock Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle at home. On the other hand, the Titans’ run game after Derrick Henry helps Miami, which will be able to play its pass defense in prime time against Will Levis.
Take: The Dolphins win 24-17 and cover the spread.
-
Seahawks vs. Lions (-4.5, 47 o/u)
Monday 8:15 p.m. ET, ABC
The Seahawks have taken the Broncos, Patriots and Dolphins shorthanded, with two games at home. It will be a tough road trip Monday night, despite recently winning in Detroit with Geno Smith. The Lions got their running game back last week to take pressure off Jared Goff. The Seahawks’ offense will be sufficiently chilled against the best defense they’ve seen this season.
Take: The Lions win 31-27 but fail to cover the gap.
