ONE Championship returned to action this weekend with ONE Fight Night 24 at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The night culminated with a spectacular performance from Jarred Brooks that earned him the interim ONE Strawweight Championship (125 pounds).
Brooks (21-3) accepted the fight against Balart (12-5) despite Balart not making weight for the fight. Because the Cuban strawweight did not make weight for the fight, he was not eligible to win gold.
In the end, it did matter, as “The Monkey God” took the gold with a first-round submission victory.
Balart was placed in a rear-naked choke at 4:39 of the first round.

This is the second time Brooks has worn ONE Championship gold around his waist.
Brooks previously held the ONE strawweight title before losing the belt to Joshua Pacio earlier this year via disqualification due to an illegal punch.
Following his win at ONE Fight Night 24, Brooks called for a rematch with Pacio or a fight against the GOAT at 125 pounds, Demetrius Johnson.
