One Piece Chapter 1125 sees the death of a Gorosei while a new member takes his place.
With the Egghead arc almost over, One Piece is wrapping up the few loose ends left by the Straw Hats. In Chapter 1124, we learn about Kizaru’s heartbreaking dilemma during this arc and a mysterious figure waiting for our heroes on the Elbaf Coast.
One Piece Chapter 1125, however, has something more shocking to offer. Titled “How to Define Death,” the chapter picks up on the island where Saturn is abandoned by his Gorosei comrades. He forbids the vice admirals from pursuing the Straw Hats as they have accomplished most of their objectives, except for Vegapunk’s message.
But his decision—and his performance during the arc—sealed his fate. Imu and his fellow Gorosei found a new member for the team as Saint Figarland Garling entered the Hall of Authority to take on the role of the Warrior God of Science and Defense, replacing Saturn.
After this, black flames begin to emanate from Saturn’s body, causing him to age rapidly until only his skeleton remains. He begs for mercy from Imu but gets nothing but a painful death. Now that there is a fifth member, Imu and the World Government have no further use for him.
It’s a shocking and dark turn of events, especially since One Piece rarely kills off its characters, let alone in such gruesome ways. But the death of a Gorosei indicates that things are going to be a lot darker than what we’re used to in the manga.

“It’s crazy that one of the Gorosei is already dead while none of the admirals have been defeated yet. That tells us a lot.” underlines another.

“I’m thinking of Kizaru and the vice admirals who heard Saturn shout Imu’s name. This information will be given to Akainu, which will confirm his suspicions here.” theorized a fan.
