The Indiana Pacers enter the upcoming NBA season with high expectations after an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals last year.
Not only do the Pacers have high expectations placed on them, but the the best players on the team.
“Tyrese Haliburton is just the 14th-best odds to win the 2024-25 NBA MVP award, making it seem like bookmakers forgot that the Indiana Pacers point guard was a top-five pick for the honor last year until a hamstring strain derailed his season,” writes Beacher Report’s Grant Hughes.
“(Steve) Nash won two MVP awards with the Phoenix Suns while leading a dominant offense with his efficient shooting and dynamic passing. There’s no reason Haliburton can’t follow the same model.”
Haliburton averaged 20.1 points, 10.9 assists and 3.9 rebounds last year in Indiana. With the addition of Pascal Siakam midway through the season, the Pacers duo led the team to a strong playoff run.
Now that the Iowa State product is entering the season in top form, he has the potential to take the league by storm. At just 24 years old, the star point guard has plenty of room to continue to develop and reach another level.
Haliburton has only scratched the surface of his potential and could find himself at the forefront of the MVP race at some point this season.
