Who won the F1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix?
Oscar Piastri secured his third win of the 2025 Formula 1 season with a commanding performance at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, elevating him to the top of the Drivers’ Championship standings. The McLaren driver crossed the finish line 2.8 seconds ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc completing the podium.
The race commenced with early drama at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit as polesitter Verstappen and Piastri went wheel-to-wheel into Turn 1. Verstappen cut the apex, forcing Piastri wide, and was subsequently handed a five-second time penalty for the maneuver. After serving the penalty during his pit stop, Verstappen rejoined behind Piastri and was unable to reclaim the lead.
Lando Norris, starting from P10 after a qualifying crash, briefly led the race by extending his first stint on hard tyres. However, once he pitted for mediums, Piastri resumed the lead and maintained it to the end. Norris finished fourth, just behind Leclerc, while Mercedes’ George Russell and Kimi Antonelli secured fifth and sixth places, respectively. Lewis Hamilton added to Ferrari’s points tally with a seventh-place finish.
Williams achieved a double points finish, with Carlos Sainz in eighth and Alex Albon in ninth. Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar rounded out the top ten. Fernando Alonso finished 11th, still seeking his first points of the season. The race saw an early Safety Car deployment due to a collision between Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda on the opening lap.
