Manchester City were defeated 1-0 by Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium on May 17.
With this defeat, Man City have no hopes of silverware left for this season, and will be chasing a top-five finish in the Premier League to secure a spot in the Champions League for the next campaign.
The match on Saturday saw Claudio Echeverri make his debut for Man City as he came for Omar Marmoush in the 76th minute of the clash.
While many questions surfaced about Pep Guardiola bringing on a new face at such a crucial game, Premier League legend Alan Shearer thinks it might be the end of the road for one of the Man City stars.
While speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, after the FA Cup final, Shearer mentioned that Man City’s loss did not surprise him with regards to the club’s form throughout the ongoing season.
“Did it surprise me yesterday (that City lost)? No, because that’s what they’ve been like all season. They didn’t deserve to win it, they didn’t do enough to win it.”
Shearer also spoke about Jack Grealish, claiming that the Englishman’s ‘time is up’ at the Etihad.

What did Alan Shearer say about Jack Grealish’s future at Man City?
Shearer believes that Guardiola picking 19-year-old Echeverri over Grealish points to the Aston Villa graduate’s journey coming to an end at Man City.
Grealish, who arrived at the Etihad in 2021, has fallen rather behind in Guardiola’s pecking order over the seasons. The 29-year-old has started in only 16 out of the 31 appearances he has made this season, registering three goals and five assists.
Shearer also claimed that Grealish is no longer in Guardiola’s good books and would no longer be a part of the squad.
“You mentioned Jack Grealish. His time is up at Man City, he has to leave.
“For him (Guardiola) to bring a debutant on, a young boy (Claudio Echeverri) and Gundogan on when they’re desperate for a goal rather than Jack Grealish… his time is up, he’s done at Man City, he has to leave,” he said.
“For whatever reason, Pep’s done with him, he doesn’t like him, his time is up it really is,” concluded Shearer.
With Grealish’s current contract at the Etihad still valid until the summer of 2027, it remains to be seen what lies in the English star’s future.
