The Baltimore Ravens could look to add some more depth to the edge rusher room. Though the team selected Mike Green during the second round of the draft and also has other capable depth pieces in the position group, such as David Ojabo, playoff contenders can never have enough pass rushers who can make an impact when on the field.
One of the top remaining defensive linemen remaining on the market is Demarcus Walker, who last played for the Chicago Bears in 2024. Last Word on Sports’ Isaac Zuniga lists Baltimore as a top landing spot for Walker.
“The Baltimore Ravens always seem to get the best out of aging veterans like Kyle Van Noy and Derrick Henry, and with the announcement that longtime Raven Michael Pierce is retiring after eight seasons, it’ll be wise to sign Walker. He’ll fit in nicely with Nnamdi Madubuike, Broderick Washington, and be the perfect mentor for 2025 sixth-round pick Aeneas Peebles,” Zuniga wrote.
Walker started all 17 games for the Bears in 2024, totaling 3.5 sacks and 39 quarterback pressures with 25 defensive stops. The 30-year-old’s most productive campaign came in 2022 with the Tennessee Titans, where he tallied seven sacks and 32 quarterback pressures.
Walker signed a three-year deal worth $21 million with Chicago during the 2023 offseason but was released in February after two seasons with the team.
Though he isn’t a highly productive pass rusher, Walker is a solid run defender and has started 29 games over the last two years. The Florida State product is also incredibly durable and tough, as he hasn’t missed a game in three seasons.
The Ravens should look to sign Walker, as he would add valuable depth behind Kyle Van Noy and Odafe Oweh, and his experience is also a major plus. Additionally, Walker seems to be at his best when in a rotational role, as that was the role he played during his career year in Tennessee in 2022.
Baltimore has $16.3 million in cap space, per Over the Cap. Walker, who shouldn’t cost too much to sign, would be an excellent pre-training camp signing by general manager Eric DeCosta.
