They thanked their family, husband and team for being “so understanding,” but Van Ness admitted that they “didn’t even go on social media or look at my phone for about three weeks,” noting that “every time I tried to dip my toe into it, I immediately saw something that was so intensely painful.”
“I think people forget that no matter how famous you are, you’re still a person,” they shared, finally highlighting how the article came “at an incredibly vulnerable time” for their hair care company and for “their entire career.”
“While I think that article was overwhelmingly false and done in bad faith, there have obviously been times … throughout my career where I felt stressed, or I may have been immersed in highlights and thought, ‘I can’t talk about that right now,’” he admitted. “I know there were times where I could have been better.”
Van Ness noted that they began production on Season 9 shortly after, which they described as “very intense.”
While Van Ness, Karamo Brown, Antoni Porowski, and Tan France will return for the next installment of the show, Bobby Berk revealed in November 2023 that season 8 of strange eye —which premiered in January— would be his last.
The Fab Five will be rounded out by HGTV’s Jeremiah Brent, who was announced as Berk’s replacement in February. France, who was accused – along with “alleged support from Porowski” – of having “campaigned” for Brent to replace Berk, took the lead instagram in March to counter the accusation.
