Both teams fell at the final hurdle before the final, as the Canucks lost 2-0 to reigning Copa America and World Cup champions Argentina and Uruguay suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the semi-finals despite having a man advantage for much of the second half after Crystal Palace full-back Daniel Muñoz was sent off for elbowing Manuel Ugarte in a fight.
Having missed out on the chance of what would have been a record 16th Copa America title, Marcelo Bielsa’s men will now be looking to finish strongly and secure third place after an impressive start to the tournament.
