The NBA is full of twists and turns, with injuries at the forefront of discussions.
Unfortunately for this Eastern Conference team, they will be without a key player to start training camp and potentially even longer.
“Toronto Raptors forward Bruce Brown underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. Brown will be re-evaluated in three weeks,” Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported Friday.
Brown was selected in the second round of the 2018 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons. Since then, the Miami product has become a very solid role player in the league.
The versatile forward spent time with the Brooklyn Nets and Denver Nuggets before parlaying his strong postseason play into a massive payday with the Indiana Pacers last offseason.
However, the 28-year-old was involved in a big-money trade last season that brought him to the Raptors. Brown averaged 9.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists in Toronto in just 34 games. The Raptors were expected to part ways with the point guard before the season began, but they will instead have to wait for the veteran to recover before playing him for a team.
It will be interesting to see how long Brown remains on the roster as the Raptors continue to rebuild. Still, his services could prove valuable to the team as it looks to return to the playoffs.
