Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot as they search for a new right-back.

While the Spanish giants have their eyes set on Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, uncertainty around his future has forced them to explore alternatives.

The reports also come a week or so after sources claimed Real had given up on one alternative choice to TAA also playing in England — Spurs’ Pedro Porro.

Dalot, 25, has been a regular starter for United this season, featuring in all 13 Premier League games under both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.

Despite United’s struggles in the league, where they currently sit ninth, Dalot’s performances have caught the attention of Madrid.

Alexander-Arnold, Porro or Dalot?

Reports from Spain (via Revelo) suggest Real Madrid value Dalot at £41 million as a potential fallback option if they cannot secure Alexander-Arnold.

The Liverpool star’s contract expires next summer, but it remains unclear if he will leave his boyhood club.

Dalot’s current deal at United runs until 2029, making it unlikely that the Red Devils would let him go for the rumored fee. However, Madrid’s interest could put pressure on United if a significant bid comes in.

Is Dalot the right fit for Real Madrid?

While Dalot has been crucial for United, some have questioned whether he is ready for Real Madrid’s high standards.

The Portuguese defender has shown inconsistency at times, including conceding a penalty earlier this season. Critics argue he lacks the elite defensive quality that Madrid typically demands.

Still, Real Madrid’s search for a dependable right-back continues, and Dalot’s name is now firmly in the mix.

Whether he ends up at the Bernabéu or stays at Old Trafford will likely depend on how the summer transfer window unfolds.
