The flyweight division headlines the last UFC PPV of the year on December 7 when Alexandre Pantoja defends the UFC flyweight title at UFC 310 against Kai Asakura. The fight will air on ESPN+ PPV in the U.S.
Pantoja (28-5) has successfully defended the flyweight title twice since dethroning Brandon Moreno and is on a six-fight win streak. The Brazilian is now ready to enter 2025 as the undisputed champion.
Asakura (21-4) is a former two-time Rizin bantamweight champion on a two-fight win streak. Moving to a weight that may better suit him, the Japanese fighter competes in his first UFC fight. There is a sense of uncertainty, but he is ready to make the most of the opportunity.
“I promise everyone — I will beat him by knockout,” Asakura said via The Japan Times. “I will put on a show — 100 percent.”
The co-main event will be a UFC welterweight title eliminator between Shavkat Rakhmonov and Ian Machado Garry.
Rakhmonov (18-0), who has won all his octagon fights via a finish, was supposed to compete for gold until Belal Muhammad backed out.
Machado Garry (15-0) has soared to the top of the division rather quickly. A UFC favorite, the Irish fighter is ready to prove why his nickname is “The Future” with a win over the mighty Kazakh.
