The Golden State Warriors filled their final two-way spot on Tuesday, officially signing 6-foot-5 former Los Angeles Lakers guard Nate Williams.

With the Dubs still having the ability to offer a player a standard deal this season, Sports Illustrated’s Joey Akeley believes the Warriors could reunite Stephen Curry with a 6-foot-8 forward via buyout.

“The (Memphis) Grizzlies have one open roster spot and three two-way players they could look to convert in Javon Small, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, and Jahmai Mashack,” Akeley stated.

“That means (Kyle) Anderson is a strong buyout candidate, and the Warriors would be a likely destination for the 32-year-old forward. Anderson needs to play with a stretch 5 to be at his best, and the Warriors have three of them in Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, and Quinten Post.”

After spending the first half of the 2024-25 season with the Warriors, Anderson was traded to the Miami Heat in a blockbuster five-team deal that landed Golden State Jimmy Butler.

Anderson, known for his methodical offensive approach, averaged 5.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game with the Warriors, shooting 45.0% from the field and 36.5% from three.

Shortly after the end of the 2024-25 campaign, the Heat traded Anderson to the Utah Jazz in a three-team deal. The former McDonald’s All-American was involved in yet another trade this year, as the Jazz shipped him to the Grizzlies before the Feb. 5 trade deadline.

For the 2025-26 season, Anderson is averaging 7.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game, shooting 55.6% from the field and 60% from beyond the arc.

Although Anderson isn’t considered a hot commodity on the buyout market, he could be a useful role player in a second stint with the Warriors.
