Solo Leveling is coming to theaters ahead of Season 2, and we now know when fans outside of Japan and South Korea will see the movie.
One of the best anime of 2024, Solo Leveling took the world by storm in January, when Sung Jinwoo quickly went from an E-rank hunter to a scholar, taking on monsters far beyond his apparent strength. Guided by a mysterious AI, he embarks on a personal mission to save his dying mother using the dungeon’s treasure.
Before moving on to the second season, A-1 Pictures is taking a cue from Demon Slayer with a compilation film, Solo Leveling: ReAwakening, which will be released this winter. Initially, we only had the Asian release dates, but the American premiere has also been confirmed.
Solo Leveling: ReAwakening is coming to the United States and Canada on December 6, 2024This comes just a week after fans in South Korea and Japan will be able to enjoy Sung’s new film, so there won’t be long to wait.
As a compilation, the animated film will include footage from the first season and the opening salvo from the second. The first two episodes of season 2 are included, meaning the first 45 minutes to an hour will be dedicated to recapping what’s happened so far.
The whole exercise can help Solo Leveling grow even further, as it gives people a chance to catch up without having to watch the entire first season. Sure, it’s not a huge time investment, since it’s only 12 episodes, but these releases rarely air on local media, so the fact that it’s only a short opportunity balances everything out.
