One of the toughest things for an NBA fan is the retirement of one of their favorite players.
Luckily, fans won’t have to worry about that with Golden State Warriors star guard Steph Curry for a little while.
Retirement isn’t on Steph Curry’s radar right now
Despite being 37 years old, Curry has no plans of stepping away from the game anytime soon, which he made clear in a recent interview with People magazine.
“It’ll declare itself, whenever the time comes to call it quits, which I don’t think is anytime soon,” Curry, said. “I’m not really putting too much pressure on that.”
Instead of thinking about the future and retirement, Curry is borrowing from Buddhism and doing his best to live in the moment.

“Thinking about the end robs you of the now,” Curry said. “I’m enjoying the journey of competing and all the work that goes into it. Hopefully that carries me a long way.”
Curry wanting to live in the moment makes sense, especially since he’s still playing at an elite level.
On the season, Curry is averaging 27.2 points, 4.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals per performance for the Warriors. He was recently named an All-Star for the 12th time in his career, though he missed the game due to a knee injury.
Along with guys like LeBron James and Kevin Durant, Curry is helping to disprove the long-standing narrative that elite play can’t be continued in your late 30s or early 40s, and that’s something that the four-time champion is taking pride in.
“It is a badge of honor to now be the oldest player doing all of these great things. To redefine what greatness looks like at this age,” Curry said.
As an elite shooter, Curry will continue to be effective for the foreseeable future, even as some of his speed and athleticism is sapped with age. The fact that retirement isn’t on his radar should be a relief to basketball fans everywhere.
