Warriors superstar Stephen Curry won’t be playing for anyone new anytime soon.

Curry agreed to a one-year, $62.6 million contract extension to stay in Golden State through the 2026-27 season, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday.

The greatest shooter of all time will continue to build on his legacy with the Warriors. His new contract extension will take him through his 38th season, totaling 18 years played in Golden State.

Curry proved he still has plenty of potential this offseason, propelling the United States to a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He still averaged 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 4.8 three-pointers per game for the Warriors last season, earning him Third Team All-NBA honors and the 2024 NBA Player of the Year award.

Stephen Curry contract extension details

Curry signed a one-year, $62.6 million extension to keep him in a Warriors uniform through the 2026-27 season.

A one-year extension was the most Golden State could offer Curry due to the NBA’s “over-38” rule.

The “over-38” rule prevents a team from offering contracts of four years or more to any player who is at least 38 years old or will turn 38 during the contract. Since Curry had two years remaining on his original contract and will turn 38 during the new extension season, the Warriors could not exercise a contract beyond 2026-27.

At the time of the extension, Curry’s $62.6 million in 2026-27 will allow him the highest paid player in the league that season.

The new deal also brings Curry’s career earnings to more than $500 million, joining LeBron James and Kevin Durant as the only players in NBA history to achieve that feat.
