The Phoenix Suns have built one of the most explosive teams in the league in terms of offensive talent.
Phoenix hired offensive guru Mike Budenholzer as the team’s head coach during the offseason as the Suns hope to harness the team’s offensive potential.
As the season approaches and the longtime coach decides who to run his offense by, he will have to two of the best options in the NBA to choose from.
“(Devin) Booker was Phoenix’s alpha until the arrival of Kevin Durant, whose deferential demeanor belies a game that demands deference,” writes Ben Rohrbach of Yahoo Sports. “Durant is one of the 15 greatest players of all time, and he was once the No. 1 on a team that had Stephen Curry. Just ask his two Finals MVPs. As much as we laugh at Durant’s ring-chasing tour, his legacy is greater than that of all but one (or two) active players, and that commands respect.
“Whether the Suns would be better off if the team went with Booker instead of a 36-year-old Durant is a legitimate question.”
Booker has proven to be one of the best scorers in the game since being drafted in 2015. Considering a career-high 70 points, a 62-point night, and multiple 50-point games over the years , the Kentucky alum is known for his scoring ability.
Last season, the guard averaged 27.1 points, 6.9 assists and 4.5 rebounds on 49.2 percent shooting from the field, compared to 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and five assists. for Durant on 52.3% shooting from the floor.
It’s safe to say the Suns have two No. 1 scoring options on their hands, but with Durant, 35, in decline, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Phoenix plan their offense all the way through the 27s. -old Booker.
Nonetheless, the Suns are heading into a pivotal season for the franchise as the team hopes its star duo can lead them to the organization’s first championship.
