Two beloved Shonen manga, One Piece and Sakamoto Days, just got an unexpected crossover thanks to a card game, so here’s what you need to know.
One Piece Card Game was released in Japan in July 2022 to celebrate the manga’s 25th anniversary. The game was also released worldwide later that year. It is a collectible card game based on Eiichiro Oda’s iconic manga and anime series.
In the game, players create their own decks of cards and compete to reduce their opponent’s life to zero. Sakamoto Days creator Yuto Suzuki created an illustration of Shanks as one of the collectible cards.
Sakamoto Days is one of the most popular new-gen Shonen manga that will soon be adapted into an anime, making the series’ popularity continue to grow. Apart from that, J Stars Victory VS creator Kyousuke Usuta also shared an illustration of Buggy.
Shanks is a much-loved character in One Piece, so it’s no wonder fans are incredibly happy about him as they praise his incredible appearance.
A fan wrote: “MY FAVORITE OP CHARACTER DRAWN BY THE AUTHOR OF MY FAVORITE NEXT GENERATION MANGA UGHHHHHHH WAS THAT!”
“It’s kind of crazy to see other manga authors doing OPCG art, no wonder the art is this good,” adds another.
“Oda is so based that he asks other busy mangaka to draw his cards for a card game (that no one even plays lol),” said one third intervenes.
A fourth praise: “Respect to Yuto Suzuki, he never misses his target. It’s always a treat for the eyes to see his illustrations.”
