LeBron James is the type of player every franchise in the NBA has wanted throughout his career, and this summer presents a major opportunity across the league. James has been the most talked-about player since free agency opened.

The Lakers quickly moved on by signing four players shortly after free agency began, following James’ decision to inform the team that he would not be returning.

“LeBron James will return for an unprecedented 24th season in the NBA — but it won’t be with the Los Angeles Lakers. James has informed the Lakers that the franchise can move on without him because he will play elsewhere, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Tuesday,” ESPN wrote.

James has since moved on and is now evaluating potential landing spots. One possibility is the Golden State Warriors, especially after Draymond Green declined his option, potentially creating flexibility.

“LeBron James is preparing to meet with the Warriors this week as an unrestricted free agent. After Draymond Green opted out today, Golden State has the necessary flexibility to sign LeBron and trade for Anthony Davis. LeBron leaving the Lakers is gaining significant traction,” NBA reporter Evan Sidery wrote.

Recently on his podcast, Green discussed how he believes many people and organizations underestimate what James brings to a franchise. In doing so, he also suggested the Lakers may have taken James for granted.

“I still think people don’t understand the force, the weight that this guy carry, you know, from a overall standpoint, you know, the economics that he bring to a team, the economic impact that he may have on the city. And then also the basketball like anytime LeBron James is on the floor, A, your team have a chance to win, but B, you have to account for him in a major way. And I think personally the Lakers are going to feel that next year,” Green said.

This highlights the respect Green has for James and his overall career. Whether James ultimately joins the Warriors or not, Green understands that the veteran superstar is a rare presence in sports.

Green did not hold back when addressing those who may have grown complacent regarding James’ impact. The Lakers appeared to settle into their situation during his eight seasons in Los Angeles, but the upcoming season will serve as a major test for the franchise.

This is a magnificent opportunity for these two sides to get a first ever World Cup knockout win as Australia takes on Egypt in the Round of 32 in Dallas.

Tony Popovic initiated a resolute defensive approach in qualification, which continued into the tournament as the Socceroos defeated Turkey with a backs against the wall win in Vancouver.

They were then undone by a 2-0 defeat to co-hosts USA in Seattle before a goalless draw with Paraguay saw them finish as runners-up in Group D.

Egypt began its campaign with a 1-1 draw against Belgium before it came from behind to defeat New Zealand in its second game. The 3-1 victory against The All Whites was its first ever World Cup win, while it kept its unbeaten run intact with a 1-1 draw against Iran.

Australia vs. Egypt prediction

We think Egypt will sneak past Australia in a low-scoring clash.

Australia is a very defensive team. Even in pre-tournament friendlies with the pressure off, Popovic was criticized for a lack of attacking intent and just how deep it would sit.

Against an Egypt side held up by a declining Mohamed Salah and an out of form Omar Marmoush, a low-scoring encounter seems likely.

Yet the better of the two sides remains the Egyptians. They are unbeaten in nine of their last 10 matches with Salah scoring or assisting in six of nine. He can still be the difference.

Prediction: Egypt 1, Australia 0

Here are the odds across some notable sportsbooks for who will come out on top in this round of 32 game at the World Cup between Australia and Egypt. If multiple sportsbooks are available in your area, it’s always best to compare odds and go with the most advantageous lines.

Australia vs. Egypt best bets

Under 2.5 goals (-225 at bet365)

Australia is a limited side in attack, despite some exciting young talents such as Nestory Irankunda and Mohamed Toure. Egypt is also safety first, so under 2.5 goals seems likely for this one.

Total goals

20 (1.82 per game)

Tony Popovic’s Australians are naturally defensive, while Egypt lacks efficiency in the final third. The 3-1 win against New Zealand for Egypt was one of just two games in which it has scored more than just a solitary goal in its last nine matches. bet365 has the best odds for this bet.

Hossam Abdelmaguid to be carded (+300 at bet365)

Center-back Hossam Abdelmaguid missed out against Iran due to a concussion, but he is expected to return to the XI due to the injury sustained by Nice defender Mohamed Abdelmonem.

Especially with Australia’s best attacking threat being pace on the counterattack with Toure and Irankunda, we’re backing Abdelmaguid to be carded. He has received two cards in his last three competitive internationals. bet365 has the best odds for this market.

Mohamed Salah to have a shot on target (-138 at bet365)

Mohamed Salah has got himself a World Cup goal in this tournament and moved into a more central position as he chases the one he needs to match Hossam Hassan’s Egypt scoring record.

Salah has had a shot on target in each of Egypt’s group stage matches here. Whether Egypt is chasing the game or funneling its attacks through him, he should get a shot off to test Patrick Beach in the Australia goal.

Egypt to have the most corners (-108 at Caesars)

Back Egypt to have the most corners in the match against Australia because it should dominate the ball as a result of Australia’s setup.

Australia managed just 12 corners through the group stages at an average of just four per game; while Egypt racked up 18 at an average of six. Caesars has the best odds for this wager.

In what people thought would be a quiet offseason for the Philadelphia 76ers after parting ways with Daryl Morey, it seems they are in the headlines yet again. They made a surprising trade by getting Jaylen Brown for Paul George and a significant haul of draft picks.

Despite the draft picks being costly, it seems the 76ers are happy with getting a superstar who just had his best season. Now, the 76ers want to keep going further by signing a big fish in the 2026 free agency period, and that could be LeBron James, who just left the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 76ers want to be greedy by signing LeBron James

Many teams are chasing LeBron for his signature in free agency. It feels like it is 2010 all over again, but this time, it is for a 41-year-old version of the same player. Despite his age, he is still a fantastic player, which is why all these teams are chasing him.

The Golden State Warriors are probably the likeliest team, as he would join up with his old rivals, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. However, a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Miami Heat is not being ruled out either.

Now, the 76ers have thrown their hat in the ring, as they could benefit from getting him. Dean Wade is projected as the starting power forward, but that could change if LeBron is willing to join the 76ers. A starting lineup of Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, Brown, James, and Embiid could be one of the top contenders in the league.

According to The Athletic’s Tony Jones, it seems the 76ers are quite interested in getting the four-time Finals MVP. He could be a game-changer for the 76ers as he has limited competition when it comes to ball-handling duties, and has some decent shooters around him as well.

This 76ers team could be the right team for LeBron, and it would not be surprising if he does end up in Philly. It will be an interesting situation to follow, as LeBron would want to finish his career with a solid run on a good team.

The Dallas Stars now officially have a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Jason Robertson, and Miro Heiskanen alongside the other players have done so well that they have the second-best record in the Central Division and Western Conference. Unfortunately, the same thing cannot be said for Coach Jason Kidd and the Dallas Mavericks. They no longer have a shot of replicating the success of their NHL counterparts but do plan on doing better with Cooper Flagg leading the charge. How exactly is the Mavericks head coach going to do that?

Kidd, Mavericks wants to replicate Stars’ NHL success

The Mavericks are now headed to miss the NBA Playoffs for the second-straight year. A lot of factors contributed to this like having a full season without Kyrie Irving and having just lost Anthony Davis during the trade deadline. Luka Doncic has also just been a year removed from getting traded and it has barely been half a year since ownership fired Nico Harrison.

There are a lot of checkboxes that the Mavericks need to tick in order to emulate the Stars. From the front office to the coaching and players, Coach Kidd wants to see some changes in order to help Flagg grow into the star that he was meant to be. He got real on how proud he was of the NHL team in reaching the Stanley Cup Playoffs while also detailing how far the Mavericks are from the position, via Eddie Sefko of NBA.com.

“That’s awesome that the Stars clinched, especially for the city of Dallas. For us, that’s something that’s not going to take place. But for us the goal is to continue the journey, keep working and playing hard, keep developing. We’re in a different space than the Stars, but hopefully we can get to that level and get back to the playoffs sooner than later,” the Mavericks head coach added.

Surely, Flagg and the Mavericks will root for the success of the Robertson-led Stars heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. If they manage to find the right pieces in the draft, hire a new general manager, and get their stars playing again, Coach Kidd’s Mavericks could be competing at the same times as the Stars in years to come.

The NBA trade deadline is only days away, but a surprise name has hit the trade market.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that the Los Angeles Clippers and star point guard James Harden are working together to find a possible landing spot for the veteran. Los Angeles is one of the hottest teams in the NBA, but still entered Monday at just 23-25 on the season and barely in the play-in tournament.

The Los Angeles Clippers and 11-time All-Star James Harden are working through whether the sides can find a deal by Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, sources tell ESPN. Both sides are aligned in conversations together and with interested teams. pic.twitter.com/XzvCz0fc4w

Harden’s presence on the trade market would make him the second-biggest name available, only behind Giannis Antetokounmpo. Harden has played for five teams in his career and been traded four times since he entered the league.

Here’s the latest on Harden’s trade status.

Why are the Clippers trying to trade James Harden?

The Clippers currently sit in ninth place in the Western Conference, which would make them part of the play-in tournament. However, Los Angeles has a lot of ground to cover in order to make the top six in the west, so the team may view trading Harden as the better move for the future.

For Harden, a new team may give him a chance to play for his first title, as the Clippers slow start to the year put them well behind most of the league.

James Harden trade rumors

Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix reports that the Clippers and Cleveland Cavaliers have discussed a deal surrounding Harden and Darius Garland. Harden would join a Cavaliers team eyeing an NBA Finals run, while the Clippers would get back a younger point guard in Garland as part of their core.

According to Charania, the Clippers are working with Harden to find a new potential home, so the point guard will have a say in deciding where to go.

James Harden contract

Harden is currently playing in the first year of a two-year, $81.5 million contract, but the second year of that deal is a player option. Harden is making over $39 million this year, and has the chance to opt into over $42 million next season.

James Harden season stats

Here’s how Harden has performed this year so far:

Games: 44

MPG: 35.4

PPG: 25.4

RPG: 4.8

APG: 8.1

SPG: 1.3

FG%: 41.9%

3P%: 34.7%

FT%: 90.1%

Harden’s numbers are up from the past few seasons, and his points per game would be his best since he led the league in scoring in 2018-19.

The New England Patriots are arguably the most successful franchise in the history of the NFL to this point. For nearly 20 years, they enjoyed one of the greatest dynasties the sports world has ever seen.

On Sunday, they will go to Empower Field at Mile High to face the Denver Broncos for a chance to reach their 12th Super Bowl. But they will have to overcome a big hurdle in order to do so.

The Patriots have never won a playoff game in Denver in four tries. Though Bill Belichick and Tom Brady enjoyed an incredible amount of success together, playing in Denver seemed to be the toughest thing for them to do in the nearly two decades they were together.

The Broncos have gotten the better of the all-time matchup, even when Brady was around and now, they will be looking to go to 5-0 at home against the Patriots in the playoffs.

Denver Broncos vs. New England Patriots postseason history

January 4, 1987: Broncos 22, Patriots 17- Divisional Round

This game featured two quarterbacks from the famed 1983 draft class, John Elway and Tony Eason. Elway threw two interceptions and Eason threw two touchdown passes but the Broncos made enough plays to pull it out late and knock off the defending AFC champions.

January 14, 2006: Broncos 27, Patriots 13- Divisional Round

This was one of the more satisfying victories in Broncos history as the team handed the combination of Brady and Belichick their first-ever postseason defeat. The Patriots were the two-time Super Bowl champs heading into this game and it was the Broncos who thwarted the three-peat.

Champ Bailey’s interception of Brady in the end zone and 100-yard return is one of the top highlights in Broncos postseason history.

When Patriots Ben Watson chased down Champ Bailey 100 yards downfield in a playoff game. pic.twitter.com/fnqM1HLvFk

January 19, 2014: Broncos 26, Patriots 16- AFC Championship

The Broncos had one of the best offenses in NFL history in 2013 and though the Patriots had their chances to pull off the upset, the Broncos just seemed destined to win it all this year. That was, until they reached Super Bowl XLVIII and were destroyed by the Seattle Seahawks.

January 24, 2016: Broncos 20, Patriots 18- AFC Championship

Two years later, and under much different circumstances, the two teams met again with the right to go to the Super Bowl on the line. The Broncos seemed like they were going to run out of gas in this one and Brady did all he could to will his team to the Super Bowl, throwing a 4-yard touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski with just 12 seconds remaining in the game.

But when they went for the two-point conversion to tie the score, Aqib Talib broke up a pass intended for Julian Edelman and the Broncos intercepted it to seal the win and head to Super Bowl 50, which they won.

The one time the Broncos and Patriots met in the playoffs in New England came after the 2011 regular season, which will forever be known as “Tebowmania”. Tebow and the Broncos earned a thrilling win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round but were trounced the following week by the Patriots, 45-10.

READ: Broncos vs. Rams would be only fresh Super Bowl matchup of options remaining

Still, the Pats have never won in the postseason in Denver and the Broncos intend to keep it that way this weekend.

The Miami Dolphins have been under pressure all season — and much of that weight has fallen directly on head coach Mike McDaniel. Ahead of the Dolphins’ Thursday night game against the Buffalo Bills, an NFL insider made it clear that while the franchise wants to keep McDaniel, his job security isn’t guaranteed if certain issues arise.

“However, there’s a caveat. If fans suddenly stop showing up to the stadium or if players stop playing for him, that can alter the situation,” Ian Rapoport said.

The game itself was competitive, with the Bills ultimately pulling out the win. But one of the most questionable moments came just before halftime. Bills quarterback Josh Allen appeared to botch a kneel-down, possibly resulting in a fumble.

“Right before halftime of the Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills game on Thursday night, there was an odd play in which Josh Allen appeared to fumble while trying to take a knee in a botched quarterback-center exchange. Allen then picked the ball up, tossed it to an official and made his way off the field. But it wasn’t immediately clear if Allen’s knee ever hit the ground with possession to officially give himself up,” CBS Sports’ Austin Nivison wrote.

On Friday, McDaniel addressed the situation and confirmed that the Dolphins plan to raise the issue with the league.

“McDaniel said the Dolphins believe Josh Allen fumbled on this play but he also heard a whistle and he didn’t want to throw a tantrum but he will be talking to the league about it,” Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson reported.

Even if the NFL determines that it was a fumble, it’s unlikely any action will be taken now that the game is over. Still, the question remains: did Allen’s knee actually touch the ground while he had possession? The replay is inconclusive, and it’s unclear whether he had fully given himself up.

McDaniel is still waiting for a response from the league. While it’s unlikely to change the outcome, the situation adds another wrinkle to an already pressure-filled season in Miami — and one more storyline to watch moving forward.

West Ham United host Tottenham Hotspur at the London Stadium on Saturday as Premier League football returns after the season’s first international break.

The home side will go into the game full of confidence after picking up their first win of the season against Nottingham Forest just before the pause in the domestic season. Meanwhile, the break came just at the right time for Tottenham as they saw their perfect start to 2025/26 come to an end with a surprising defeat at home to Bournemouth.

The result turned out to be a watershed moment for the club as it proved to be executive chairman Daniel Levy’s last game before his departure. The 63-year-old left after nearly 25 years at the club during the international break, meaning Spurs will effectively start a new era against the Hammers.

While Graham Potter’s team will be out to prove that their win against Forest was not a flash in the pan, Tottenham will look to get back to winning ways.

West Ham vs. Tottenham lineups: Predicted starting XI, team news, injury latest

The home side have just re-signed veteran goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski on a short-term deal, while Igor Julio has also arrived on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion. Both players are in contention to feature in the game on Saturday.

📲 Follow The Jugo Mobile on WhatsApp

As far as injuries are concerned for West Ham, Niclas Fullkrug has calf strain, and Potter said he will be assessed in the run-up to kickoff. Additionally, Luis Guilherme and George Earthy are out with shoulder and ankle injuries, respectively.

West Ham will rely on the experience of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Max Kilman in defence to keep a potent Spurs forward line at bay. From an attacking perspective for the home side, a lot will depend on what Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen can do to unlock what has been a sturdy Tottenham defence so far this season. The former has scored in his last two domestic games across all competitions and will be looking to add to his tally on Saturday.

West Ham predicted starting XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Hermansen (GK) — Wan-Bissaka, Kilman, Mavropanos, Diouf — Ward-Prowse, Soucek — Fernandes, Paqueta, Bowen — Wilson

Injured: Fullkrug (calf), Luis Guilherme (shoulder), Earthy (ankle)Suspended: None

Tottenham will be licking their lips at the sight of a shaky West Ham defence that has conceded eight goals in their first three Premier League games. If Potter’s volatile defence is not up to the mark, the Spurs’ frontline could be in for a field day on Saturday.

This includes both their new recruits, who could be in line for their Premier League debuts at the London Stadium. Xavi Simons and deadline-day signing Randal Kolo Muani are primed to make their first appearances for the visitors, but only the former should be in with a chance of starting.

On the injury front, Kota Takai (foot), Dejan Kulusevski (knee), James Maddison (ACL) and Radu Dragusin (ACL) are absent for the visitors, although the latter has resumed training as he steps up his recovery. Dominic Solanke and Yves Bissouma are in with a chance of returning from minor ailments.

Tottenham predicted starting XI ( 4-2-3-1, right to left): Vicario (GK) — Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence — Palhinha, Bentancur — Kudus, Sarr, Simons — Richarlison

Injured: Kota Takai (foot), Dejan Kulusevski (knee), James Maddison (ACL), Radu Dragusin (ACL), Solanke (ankle, doubt), Bissouma (undisc., doubt)Suspended: None

Saturday’s Premier League schedule features in-form Crystal Palace hosting Sunderland.

Oliver Glasner’s hosts have been excellent in the opening weeks of the campaign, starting with an FA Community Shield win over Liverpool on penalties.

The Eagles followed that up with qualification for the league phase of the UEFA Conference League plus five points gained from three unbeaten league games in 2025/26.

Visitors Sunderland have also impressed on their top-flight return with two home wins against West Ham United and Brentford either side of defeat at Burnley.

Crystal Palace vs. Sunderland lineups: Predicted starting XI, team news, injuries

The coming weeks will be a real test for Glasner as he battles against a growing injury list and seeks to keep captain Marc Guehi onside.

Guehi was denied a deadline-day move to Liverpool, and the England international is not expected to sign a contract extension beyond next summer.

However, the 25-year-old has been consistently praised for his professionalism over the exit saga and should continue as the Eagles’ leader.

Adam Wharton remains out due to a groin strain and Ismaila Sarr is sidelined for two weeks with a thigh muscle tear. Eddie Nketiah is also not ready to return, but Glasner said there is a “good chance” that new signing Yeremy Pino makes his first start.

Crystal Palace predicted starting XI (3-4-3, right to left): Henderson (GK) — Richards, Lacroix, Guehi — Munoz, Hughes, Lerma, Mitchell — Devenny, Mateta, Pino

Injured: Riad (knee), Doucoure (knee), Nketiah (thigh), Sarr (thigh), Wharton (groin), Franca (groin), Edouard (Achilles), Kporha (back)Suspended: None

Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris is only expected to make minor tweaks to the starting team that sealed a late 2-1 win over Brentford last time out.

Wilson Isidor came off the bench to net the winner and could be drafted in to replace Chemsdine Talbi.

The Black Cats are still without several key names through injury as Daniel Ballard and Luke O’Nien stay sidelined.

Sunderland predicted starting XI (4-3-3, right to left): Roefs (GK) — Hume, Mukiele, Alderete, Mandava — Diarra, Xhaka, Sadiki — Isidor, Mayenda, Le Fee

Injured: Mundle (thigh), Hjelde (calf), Ballard (groin), Huggins (groin), O’Nien (shoulder), Cirkin (hand), Alese (shoulder)Suspended: None

Four-time All-Star Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been critiqued by a former NFL standout.

But not for anything he did on the hardwood.

A four-time champion, nine-time All-Defensive Teamer, and the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year, the 35-year-old Green has established himself as one of the most versatile and lethal defensive players this century.

Could Draymond Green Have Played Pro Football?

Even heading into his 14th season this fall, the 6-foot-6 Michigan State product remains an elite defender and solid passer and playmaker.

Along with at least fellow future Hall of Fame teammates Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler (another, bubble Hall of Famer, Boston Celtics free agent big man Al Horford, has been pegged to sign with Golden State this summer, too), Green still seems to have enough to compete at a high level.

But health issues could prove a massive impediment to the upside of this Warriors team. Butler will turn 36 before the start of 2025-26, while Curry will be 38 and Green will be 36 during the season.

During a new conversation with NBA insider Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson five-year NFL journeyman tight end Ben Troupe unpacked how Green’s attitude translated to football during a recent exhibition showcase.

Let me you tell yall something. One of the best in the business. One of the best to ever do it. My dude @ScoopB and I got a chance to chop it up about some things. Im humbled. It was so much fun. Give us a listen. Scoop you a 1 of 1, my friend. Mama we made it. RESPECT https://t.co/IovDBEo8cp

— Ben Troupe (@BenTroupe84) August 23, 2025

Troupe also suggested that NFL players would struggle to perform at a high level in the NBA, too.

“Who’s good enough to be a star player — not just a player… I starred in my role at football and I’m a star basketball player. Okay, what position is he going to play? Oh, he plays guard and he has to guard Steph? Not gonna work,” Troupe submitted.

Troupe suggested that Green, known for his defensive moxie and his creativity with the ball, could be a great model for a future NFL pro looking to become a cross-sports player.

“Well then maybe he can be like a Draymond Green… ? Draymond Green is the smartest person on the court,” Troupe said. “That’s why he doesn’t have to score. I just think it’s way too much especially now because we got social media.”

In speaking to Robinson, Troupe laid out a case for why cross-sports athletes in general don’t work — with a few superstar exceptions.

“Stick to one sport,” Troupe insisted. “To the Deions [Sanders] of the world we appreciate you. Mike [Michael Jordan]. I know Nate Robinson played football at U-Dub before he moved to basketball; Draymond, I saw you in the spring game at Michigan State trying to play tight end. That was embarrassing! I love you but, don’t put that tape out! Just leave it alone. We would love to see it but if anybody could do it, I think a tight end has the best shot only because they’re used to being utility players — being asked to do a lot but not really caring about the credit.”

“So if anybody has the mindset, they can do it as a tight end, Troupe observed. “Kyle Pitts is 6’6”. Darren Waller’s is like 6’5” for the Giants but LeBron is 6’8” and he’s coming down the lane in Year 20 [laughs]… Just leave it alone, man. Because you’re gonna get posterized real fast and you can’t fight for real but I would love to see it though.”

Green’s basketball IQ is so terrific one wonders if he could find intriguing angles into the NFL game.
