Spain have been one of international football’s most successful nations for decades, making “La Marcha Real” one of the sport’s most recognisable national anthems.

From Iker Casillas and Xavi to Rodri and Lamine Yamal, generations of Spanish stars have stood proudly for the anthem before some of football’s biggest matches.

Unlike most national anthems, however, “La Marcha Real” has no official lyrics. The Jugo Mobile explains why, along with the anthem’s history and significance.

2026 WORLD CUP HQ: Latest World Cup news | Full World Cup schedule | Buy World Cup tickets

Spain national anthem lyrics in English

Unlike most national anthems, “La Marcha Real” has no official lyrics, meaning there is no English translation of words sung before Spain matches.

The anthem is instead performed as an instrumental, with players and supporters standing for the music rather than singing official lyrics.

What is Spain’s national anthem about?

“La Marcha Real” originated in the 18th century as a military march and is one of the oldest national anthems still in use today.

Although it has no official lyrics, several attempts have been made to introduce words over the years. None have gained enough public or political support to be formally adopted, partly because of Spain’s diverse languages, cultures and political views.

As a result, “La Marcha Real” is performed solely as an instrumental at state occasions and international sporting events, with Spain’s players and supporters standing for the music rather than singing.

Today, the anthem remains a symbol of Spain’s national identity and is played before the country’s international soccer matches, including the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship.

Spain national anthem music

The anthem’s title translates as “The Royal March”, reflecting its historic connection to the Spanish monarchy and royal ceremonies.

Here is the full version of “La Marcha Real”:

Spain face Belgium in Friday’s World Cup quarterfinal in Los Angeles unbeaten and without conceding a single goal so far in the tournament, form that has revived talk of the country’s golden generation from a decade and a half ago. It raises a question newer fans in particular tend to ask: how many World Cups has Spain actually won?

Here’s Spain’s full record at football’s biggest tournament.

2026 WORLD CUP HQ: Latest World Cup news | Full World Cup schedule Buy World Cup tickets

Has Spain won the World Cup?

Yes, once. Spain won the World Cup in 2010, beating the Netherlands 1-0 in extra time in the final in Johannesburg, South Africa. Andres Iniesta scored the only goal of the game in the 116th minute, latching onto a pass from Cesc Fabregas to send Spain into delirium.

It remains the country’s only World Cup title, though it arrived as part of a wider golden run that also included European Championships in 2008 and 2012, either side of the World Cup win.

MORE WORLD CUP NEWS:

Spain’s World Cup history

Spain have qualified for the World Cup 17 times: 1934, 1950, 1962, 1966, 1978, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022 and 2026.

For most of that history, Spain underachieved relative to the talent they produced. Despite consistently strong domestic football, they went 76 years between their first World Cup appearance in 1934 and their eventual triumph in 2010, a gap that led to years of “nearly men” narratives before the trophy finally arrived.

Spain’s best World Cup finishes

Before 2010, Spain’s best World Cup finish was fourth place at the 1950 tournament in Brazil, where the competition was decided by a final round-robin group rather than a knockout final.

Outside of that and their 2010 triumph, Spain have reached the World Cup semifinals only those two times, and the quarterfinals on six separate occasions. It’s a respectable record, but one that made the 2010 win feel like a genuine breakthrough rather than the culmination of a run of near-misses at the very top.

Spain’s all-time World Cup record

Across their World Cup history, Spain have won the vast majority of the matches they’ve played, with a win tally comfortably ahead of their losses. Their 2010 triumph is also the source of one of the tournament’s stranger trivia notes: Spain remain the only team in World Cup history to lose their opening group match, to Switzerland that year, and still go on to win the whole tournament. They’re also the first European nation to win a World Cup staged outside of Europe.

Spain at the 2026 World Cup

Luis de la Fuente’s side, captained by Rodri, have been the form team of the tournament so far. Spain topped Group H with wins over Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, then beat Austria 3-0 in the round of 32 before Mikel Merino’s injury-time winner off the bench saw off Portugal 1-0 in the round of 16.

That run has taken Spain to the quarterfinals without conceding a goal, a defensive record that puts them among the tournament favourites heading into Friday’s meeting with Belgium. It’s the furthest Spain have gone at a World Cup since they lifted the trophy in 2010, and a win would take them back to the semifinals for the first time since that triumph.

Argentina was on the verge of elimination until the defending champions pulled off a magical comeback against Egypt to escape the Round of 16 with a 3-2 victory.

Lionel Messi’s squad had trouble dealing with an Egyptian team that used counterattacks off a strong defense to create offensive chances. It seemed like Egypt had figured out how to slow down Messi and was prepared to pull off a massive upset.

However, Argentina found a few late goals, including Messi’s equalizer in the 83rd minute, completing the latest comeback without extra time in World Cup history.

78 – 🇦🇷 Argentina were trailing as of the 78th minute, the latest any team has ever been 2+ goals down in a FIFA World Cup game and come back to win without going to extra time (3-2).

Facing a two-goal deficit is usually too big for any team to overcome in the World Cup, but Argentina wasn’t fazed by the hole. Not only does Argentina keep its chances at a back-to-back championship alive, it made history in the process.

Here’s where Argentina’s comeback ranks in World Cup history.

Three-goal comebacks

1954: Austria 7-5 Switzerland

Austria’s three-goal comeback over Switzerland in the 1954 quarterfinals was the first time a team had a multi-goal comeback in a World Cup knockout match. Switzerland took a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes of action. However, just a few minutes after that third goal, Austria scored three goals in two minutes to even the match, and Austria even had a 4-3 lead at halftime to take full control. In the end, Austria outscored Switzerland 7-2 in the last 70 minutes of action to move on to the next round.

1966: Portugal 5-3 North Korea

The only other three-goal comeback in the World Cup came in the 1966 quarterfinal, when Portugal scored five unanswered goals to defeat North Korea. North Korea scored three goals in the first 28 minutes, but Portugal immediately answered the third goal with the team’s first to not only cut the deficit to 3-1, but halt the momentum as well. Portugal scored once more right before halftime, then dominated the second half with three straight goals to get the win.

Two-goal comebacks

1954: West Germany 3-2 Hungary

Only once in World Cup history has a team overcome a multi-goal deficit to win the match, and it came all the way back in 1954. Hungary scored twice in the first few minutes to take a 2-0 lead, but West Germany bounced back with two goals in the next 10 minutes to tie the game at the 18-minute mark. The two sides played much of the game evenly until West Germany took the lead for good with a goal in the 84th minute.

1982: West Germany 3-3- (5-4 PKs) France

Twenty-eight years later, West Germany executed another two-goal comeback, this time against France in the 1982 semifinal. This match was different than most other comebacks, as it was tied 1-1 through 90 minutes and went to extra time. France scored twice in the first eight minutes of extra time, but West Germany chipped away with two goals before extra time expired, forcing penalty kicks. The PK shootout went six rounds, but West Germany eeked out France 5-4 to advance to the final.

2018: Belgium 3-2 Japan

Belgium’s two-goal comeback over Japan in the 2018 Round of 16 was chaotic in of itself. The two sides were scoreless at halftime and appeared to be playing a low-scoring match, but Japan scored twice in four minutes early in the second half. Belgium then got its first goal at the 69th minute, then five minutes later tied the game at 2-2 with another goal. Belgium secured the win in stoppage time, when the team scored the winning goal right before regulation ended.

2026: Argentina 3-2 Egypt

Argentina made history at the 2026 World Cup with the latest multi-goal comeback without extra time in tournament history. The defending champions were down 2-0 through 78 minutes, but still came back after scoring their first goal at the 79th minute and after Lionel Messi tied the match at the 83rd minute. Argentina then won the game in stoppage time on an Enzo Fernandez goal.

Confidence has never been in short supply for NBA draft picks. But Chicago Bulls rookie Caleb Wilson may have delivered one of the boldest quotes of the 2026 NBA Draft after revealing the standard he’s chasing.

Just hours after being selected with the No. 4 overall pick, the former North Carolina star was asked about following the long pipeline from Chapel Hill to Chicago. Instead of shying away from comparisons to Michael Jordan, Wilson embraced the challenge with a statement that immediately grabbed attention across the basketball world.

“I write my own story, man, honestly,” Wilson said. “I want to be… I wanna be better than Mike.”

It’s an ambitious goal considering Jordan’s place in NBA history, but it’s also the type of confidence Bulls fans hope their newest cornerstone possesses.

Caleb Wilson isn’t running from Michael Jordan’s legacy

Very few players even mention Michael Jordan in relation to their own careers. Jordan remains the gold standard in Chicago after winning six NBA championships, five MVP awards and transforming the Bulls into one of the world’s most recognizable sports franchises. Wilson understands exactly whose footsteps he’s following.

“I know that’s a lot to go, but I write my own story, for sure,” Wilson continued. “I feel like there is a great pipeline from UNC to the Bulls. And I’m just ready to keep it going.”

Rather than trying to compare resumes before he’s played an NBA game, Wilson emphasized that he wants to create his own legacy while acknowledging the history connecting North Carolina and the Bulls.

Why the Bulls believe Wilson can become a franchise cornerstone

While the Jordan comparison naturally generated headlines, Chicago didn’t draft Wilson because of his confidence alone.

The 19-year-old put together an outstanding freshman season at North Carolina, averaging:

19.8 points

9.4 rebounds

2.7 assists

1.5 steals

1.4 blocks

He also shot 57.8% from the field, showcasing the athleticism and two-way versatility that made him one of the top prospects in this year’s draft. With AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson and Cameron Boozer coming off the board before him, Wilson became the player the Bulls hope can help usher in the franchise’s next era.

Chicago embraces Wilson’s confidence

Every rookie arrives in the NBA believing they can become a star. Few, however, openly say they want to surpass the player widely considered the greatest of all time. Whether Wilson ever comes close to accomplishing that goal remains to be seen. Matching Jordan’s legacy would require one of the greatest careers the sport has ever witnessed.

Still, the quote reflects the mindset Chicago hoped it was drafting. The Bulls aren’t looking for a player intimidated by franchise history. They’re looking for someone confident enough to embrace it.

Wilson now has the opportunity to begin writing his own story. If his confidence eventually matches his production on the court, Bulls fans may have plenty of reasons to be excited about the franchise’s future.

For more than a decade, LEGO DC games featuring Batman have won fans’ hearts by combining the Dark Knight’s grim heroism with the playful beauty of LEGO’s brick-built world. LEGO Batman: The Videogame and LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes became extremely popular with their witty humor, co-op gameplay, and iconic recreations of Gotham City. Fans adore the series because of its simple mechanics, renowned DC characters, and smart references to Batman’s extensive past in comics, cinema, and television.

The dedicated community has long expected a new chapter, and their anticipation was heightened at Gamescom 2025, when Warner Bros. Games and TT Games revealed a surprise title. A new LEGO Batman game, named Legacy of the Dark Knight, is inbound, promising to revive the beloved series with new features. Here’s everything you need to know about the game.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Release Date

Announced at Gamescom 2025, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be available in 2026, bringing the Dark Knight’s famous journey to life in a vibrant, open-world Gotham. The game will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Fans can expect TT Games’ trademark LEGO humor, dynamic combat, and an expansive metropolis to explore. Wishlisting is now open, fueling excitement for this nostalgic celebration of Batman’s 86-year career in films, comics, and video games.

Everything You Need to Know About LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and Its Gameplay

The plot of the game chronicles Bruce Wayne’s rise from the League of Shadows to the status of Gotham’s renowned hero. Players can explore a vast, open-world Gotham, which includes legendary places such as Arkham Asylum, Ace Chemicals, and Wayne Tower. Gliding with the Batglider, zipping through buildings with the grapple launcher, and cruising in customisable Batmobiles and Batcycles are all options for gameplay. The Batcave is a showcase for cars, trophies, and valuable Batsuits, including the Golden Age Batsuit from Detective Comics #27 (1939).

Image Credit: TT Games / WB Games

Furthermore, combat takes inspiration from the Batman Arkham series, with a combo meter, counters, dodges, and gadget-based finishers such as Batarangs and the Batclaw. Stealth mechanics enable silent takedowns and passage via floor grates, and a detective vision mode improves puzzle solving. In two-player local co-op, players can control allies such as Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, or Catwoman, each with their own set of weapons, such as Gordon’s foam sprayer or Catwoman’s whip. For a variety of challenges, the game includes Caped Crusader and Dark Knight difficulty settings, a first for LEGO games.

Iconic film scenes are reinterpreted with a LEGO twist, including The Batman (2022) high-speed car chase and Bane’s “darkness” monologue from The Dark Knight Rises (2012), voiced by Matt Berry. These recreations combine nostalgia and humor, appealing to fans of all ages. Legacy of the Dark Knight is a love letter to Batman’s cinematic and comic legacy, offering open-world exploration, Arkham-style combat, and rich customisation, promising an amazing adventure.

Expired LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Codes

There are currently no expired redeem codes in this game. So, make sure you get these particular LEGO sets and get the respective codes for the in-game rewards.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has been released for players who have purchased the Deluxe Edition in the Early Access mode. Furthermore, if you want freebies in other games, do check out WWE 2K26 Locker Codes, FC Mobile Codes, and HSR Codes as well.

How to Redeem LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Codes

Redeeming the codes for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight requires you to scan the sets first and generate them. So, follow the given steps to get the codes

Go to the official LEGO website and sign in to your LEGO Insiders account.

Click on the small figure head in the top right corner and then click on My Collection on the left.

How to Get More LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Codes

The best way to get the future redeem code rewards is by keeping an eye on the upcoming LEGO Batman merchandise. Since TT Games and Warner Bros are heavily pushing out more game collectibles, make sure to keep the instruction booklets in a safe place for any future redeem code rewards.

Furthermore, we highly recommend that you bookmark this page. Since we keep a lookout for all the new codes in this game and update the list accordingly, you will not miss out on the rewards. You can also follow the game’s official socials to learn about the major event announcements and updates.

Why Are My LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Codes Not Working?

If your redeem code is failing, there might be several issues behind it. The most common problem is entering the code incorrectly. Since these rewards are generated for each individual, even a small typo can prevent you from getting the reward. Consider copying and pasting it directly from the website to prevent this issue.

Another possibility is that the code has already been used. The rewards are not redeemable more than once, so you cannot share them with your friends or on multiple accounts.

How to Get More Free Rewards in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight?

Redeem codes are not the only way to get free cosmetics in the game. There’s a large Twitch drop campaign going on as well that grants special cosmetics to decorate the in-game Batcave. Check the LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Twitch drops for all the tasks that you should complete to get the Batman props. The tasks will be as easy as watching a LEGO Batman stream for 30 minutes. So, make sure to do them before May 31 to earn the free rewards.

And that is all about the codes for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. So, are you excited to pass the Gotham alleys and catch the criminals? Let us know in the comments below.

Are there any free redeem codes in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight?

Currently, there are no universally available free redeem codes for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight yet, but you can generate the codes after purchasing the LEGO Batman sets.

How to unlock the Golden Batman outfit using redeem codes?

Purchase the Batman LEGO set (76330), scan the QR code on its instruction booklet to generate the redemption code, and use it inside the game to get the Golden Batman outfit.

How to get the LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight redeem codes?

You have to purchase the LEGO Batman sets and scan the QR on the instruction manual to obtain the redemption codes.

Do the LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight redeem codes expire?

The redeem codes expire after one time use, and on March 1, 2029, if they aren’t used in the game for the cosmetics.

Can the redeem codes help with 100% comopletion?

No, the redeem codes are just bonus cosmetics and vehicles and do not count towards overall game completion progress.

Looking across the history of the Denver Broncos, the team has had a storied run at the safety position. Some of the best safeties in NFL history have called Denver home.

On Wednesday, one of those players, Justin Simmons, officially called it a career. After signing a one-day contract with the team that drafted him in the third round in 2016, Simmons retired as a member of the team. The team’s official website took a good look back on his career.

“Being a Denver Bronco was more than just a team. It was my heart, my home and my story. I want to be remembered as someone who gave his all and tried his best and I’ll always be a Denver Bronco”, said Simmons.

Looking back on his career, Simmons was a Second-team All-Pro four times and he earned two trips to the Pro Bowl. Sadly, he never played in a postseason game.

The Broncos released him in a cost-cutting move ahead of the 2024 season and he then signed with the Atlanta Falcons. He spent the 2025 season out of the league, but teams had interest in bringing him aboard. He only wanted to continue his playing career in certain places and there is almost no doubt he always wanted a chance to come back to Denver.

Simmons ranks seventh in team history with 30 interceptions. He was one of the best safeties to ever play for a team that has had several of them. Let’s look back at some of those and see where Simmons ranks.

Broncos’ all-time greatest safeties

Steve Atwater is the best safety in Broncos’ history and one of the best that ever played the game. The former first-round pick went to eight Pro Bowls and helped the Broncos win their first two Super Bowls before being enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Right behind him is the hard-hitting Dennis Smith, a 6-time Pro-Bowler himself who actually made Atwater even better.

Steve Atwater introduced Justin Simmons at his retirement press conference. From one Broncos legendary safety to another. Too cool.

“Congratulations on an amazing amazing career” — Atwater

“Steve Atwater just talked for me. That’s kind of crazy” — Simmons

— Zac Stevens (@ZacStevensDNVR) April 29, 2026

The team has some throwbacks to consider in Austin “Goose” Gonsoulin and Billy Thompson. Gonsoulin ranks second in team history with 43 interceptions and Thompson is third with 40.

Then you have Steve Foley, often forgotten on some of these all-time lists, but he is the franchise’s all-time leader with 44 interceptions. The Broncos finally inducted him into the team’s Ring of Fame in 2024, something that was long overdue.

Many Broncos fans will bring up John Lynch. One of the best safeties in NFL history, he spent just four seasons with the Broncos. Though he made the Pro Bowl in each of those and was eventually included in the team’s Ring of Fame, Simmons’ eight seasons and overall time with the team should be ranked a bit higher.

HOT READ: Who were Broncos’ best, worst picks in 2026 NFL Draft?

With all of that in mind, Simmons finds himself at No. 6 on the team’s all-time list for safeties, behind Atwater, Smith, Gonsoulin, Thompson and Foley, in that order. Though he’ll likely never receive consideration for Canton, he should be a future inductee into the Broncos’ Ring of Fame.

To understand Diego Pavia going undrafted, and even to understand Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Draft slide to the fifth round a year ago, you have to understand Tim Tebow.

No, that’s not the link most people will make here. Pavia and Sanders don’t necessarily remind many people of Tebow.

And yes, Tebow was a first-round pick, but this isn’t about the drafted Tebow. This is about the mid-career Tebow.

After Tebow’s ascension to rapid playoff hero for the Denver Broncos, his journey never really took off.

Instead, he became a guy that teams didn’t really want to sign.

Why? Because if he was going to be the backup QB, that was a heck of a lot of attention to have on a guy who wouldn’t even be on the field.

“Why isn’t Tim starting? Will Tim get a chance? Hey starting quarterback, what do you think of Tim as a backup?”

And therein lies the problem.

NFL teams don’t want a backup QB who takes up all the attention. It doesn’t matter the reasons that the focus is drawn to them, but simply that it is.

Sanders was going to be a major story no matter who drafted him or with what pick. Once his slide began, it took on even more notoriety.

The Browns finally gave him a chance, and he even started games, but still — every Cleveland QB update this offseason is about him, even if it seems likely that Deshaun Watson beats him out this summer.

And even if Sanders goes back to the bench, you know all the questions will be about him.

Pavia isn’t in the same stratosphere as Sanders or Tebow, but he’s this draft’s equivalent, and because he’s short, he comes with more actual football concerns.

So once no one had enough belief in him to pick him as a potential down-the-road starter, he slid, and he slid, and he fell right out of the draft entirely.

Now, a team deciding to sign him is bringing along all the attention that move will bring.

Is that worth it for a player many project at best as a backup? Many teams will decide, just like with Sanders and Tebow, that it’s not.

Maybe some of it is Pavia’s fault, but some of it isn’t. It’s just how this works, and it won’t be the last time a QB finds themselves with this conundrum. It happened to Tebow, it will probably keep happening to Sanders, and Pavia is just the latest example.

After taking college basketball by storm, Cooper Flagg is taking on the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks.

Flagg turned in a historically dominant three years of prep basketball before winning a host of national player of the year honors during his lone season at Duke. The success was no surprise to those who watched Flagg announce his arrival as a member of the Select Team that prepared the United States Senior Men’s National Team for the Paris Olympics.

Despite being just a teenager, Flagg was a college hoops phenomenon unlike anything fans have seen in quite some time. As he gears up to become a star at the NBA level, his preparedness for the moment makes sense because he hails from a basketball family.

Learn more about Flagg’s basketball family, from his brothers to his parents, who also played the game at the college level.

Flagg has two brothers: An older brother, Hunter, and a fraternal twin, Ace.

Cooper and Ace Flagg were born on Dec. 21, 2006. Hunter was born in 2004 and was a senior in high school during the twins’ freshman year at Nokomis Regional High School in Newport, Maine.

After the twins spent the 2023-24 season at Montverde Academy in Florida, Ace transferred to Greensboro Day School in Greensboro, N.C., for his final year of high school basketball.

Ace Flagg recruiting ranking

Ace Flagg is ranked 272nd nationally on 247Sports’ composite ranking of prospects in the class of 2025. By those same metrics, he is ranked 55th among all power forwards and 20th among prospects in North Carolina.

He committed to the University of Maine on Oct. 30, 2024, and will begin his college career during the 2025-26 season.

Cooper Flagg parents

Cooper Flagg’s parents are Ralph and Kelly Flagg (neé Bowman).

Flagg’s mother, Kelly, played collegiately at the University of Maine. She was a member of four NCAA Tournament teams, including the 1999 team that upset 7-seed Stanford in the Round of 64.

Flagg’s father, Ralph, played collegiately at Eastern Maine Community College.

Did Cooper Flagg reclassify?

He announced his reclassification in August 2023.

Because he reclassified and graduated high school early, Flagg enrolled at Duke University at 17 years old and is one of the youngest players in Division I basketball. Flagg’s 18th birthday fell after he played 11 games at Duke.

Flagg is NBA Draft-eligible in 2025 because his 19th birthday falls in 2025 and he will be one of the youngest players in the NBA.
