“The most important is that we are able to find this, to feel comfortable with the car, which at the moment we are just not able to unlock the full potential of the car. We come to the weekends trying a lot of things, different things every weekend, so it makes just the whole Grand Prix a lot more difficult.

“I feel that I am in the same boat as a team. We’re working towards solving it. We found a big issue in Monza, so after Monza, we thought we were finding directions. So we’re heading in the right direction. I think this is Formula 1. Sometimes the results are not coming and you just have to make sure you keep your head down, you focus on the stuff that you can control, and the rest is something that you cannot get bothered with,” he concluded.

Perez secured a contract extension with Red Bull in May for two years, but due to a severe slump in his form, he was on the verge of being ousted by his team ahead of the summer break. While he managed to stay afloat for the remaining season, Formula 1 journalist Joe Saward, known for his insightful revelations on his blog, has stated in an article, titled ‘Green Notebook from the Brasserie Wepler‘ that VCARB (RB) driver Liam Lawson is set to replace Perez next year.

Lawson performed reserve driver duties for Red Bull until the recent United States Grand Prix, which marked his 2024 debut race with Red Bull’s junior team. He proved his worth last season when he stepped in for Daniel Ricciardo for 5 Grands Prix and scored points for the team. Thus, Red Bull decided to part ways with Ricciardo and bring in Lawson for the last six races of the 2024 season. 

The Milton Keynes outfit is reportedly evaluating both Lawson’s and Yuki Tsunoda’s performances to determine who will replace Perez next year. According to Saward, Red Bull has already decided to promote Lawson to the seat alongside Max Verstappen in 2025. At the Circuit of the Americas, the Kiwi impressed by finishing 9th despite starting 19th on the grid after receiving a penalty for an additional power unit on the VCARB01 F1 car.

Speaking of Lawson’s replacement, Red Bull is eyeing Williams interim driver Franco Colapinto, who replaced Logan Sargeant mid-season. The F2 driver displayed spectacular performance in his four-race stint thus far, which saw him secure 5 points. Williams has also been looking out for options where Colapinto could find a full-time opportunity since it signed Carlos Sainz for 2025 alongside current driver Alex Albon.

The last available F1 seat remains at Sauber, a team that is being taken over by Audi and will conclude the process in 2026. But with several contenders vying for the seat in high demand, VCARB could prove a safer option for Colapinto if Red Bull decides to pursue the Argentine driver. Saward stated that Colapinto is Red Bull’s solution to Lawson’s replacement at VCARB since Perez’s chances for next year seem bleak. He wrote:

“Of late, of course Perez fans have been getting uncomfortable about the future of their hero. One can be rude about those who deliver the message but in the end the truth will out. Let us wait until the end of the year to see what happens in 2025 but Liam Lawson did a super job for VCARB in Austin and the joy the Red Bull folk seemed to me to be related to the fact that perhaps they feel they have found a solution to their problem.

“They may also have found a solution to the vacancy that a departing Lawson might create at VCARB, as Franco Colapinto is doing a great job for Williams and he has no drive in 2025, as the team is committed to Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz. The word is that Red Bull is now sniffing around Franco. Sainz and Albon are both due to stay at Williams until at least the end of 2026 and so there is no space at the moment for the Argentine driver, while Red Bull needs a strong youngster…”

Despite the lack of a hydration system, Perez has reported no health issues. His endurance and concentration are impressive, considering that drivers can lose up to 5 kilos of body fluid during such a grueling race. Yet if true, Red Bull Racing’s gamble raises concerns. Conventional hydration systems in F1 cars, typically consisting of a 1.5-litre fluid bag with a drinking tube activated by a button on the steering wheel, are important for maintaining a driver’s performance and concentration. For Perez, the lack of this system likely meant battling a level of dehydration for the duration of the race.

The intensity of the race was evident across the track, with several drivers showing signs of fatigue as the finish approached. Lando Norris, who won his third Grand Prix today, was left struggling against the barriers due to exhaustion, while George Russell described his cockpit as “like a sauna”.

Red Bull’s decision to prioritise car weight over hydration in the RB20 was clearly a measured one, but… Dehydration can worsen rapidly, leading to symptoms such as dizziness, decreased performance and, in the most severe cases, loss of consciousness. In a sport where split-second reaction times and peak fitness are of the utmost importance, the risk of dehydration-induced errors is a tangible threat.

The 2023 film followed the surprising romance between the previously feuding Claremont-Diaz, the son of the president of the United States (played by Uma Thurman), and Henry, a British prince.

The studio shared the announcement on instagramfeaturing the image of a cake in honor of the film’s iconic opening scene, topped with a “2” candle and the Union Jack and American flag.

“Would you like another slice?” says the title.

McQuiston will join director Matthew Lopez, who marked his directorial and writing debut with Red, white and royal blue – in crafting the script for the new film, according to Deadline.

While speaking with Jugo Mobile in August, Lopez praised McQuiston’s novel and considered its film adaptation “the definitive form of fan-fiction.”

“I love the book so much I made a movie based on it!” the he shared.

Meanwhile, Deadline also reports that Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Schechter Films will return to produce the film alongside Michael McGrath and Lopez, while McQuiston will executive produce.

In the wake of the exciting news, which was revealed in a Q&A following the film’s screening at the Culver Theater on Thursday night (May 9), Zakhar Perez said Forbes who thinks “it could be a trilogy.”

“I mean, can you imagine having the first queer trilogy for young people to log on and see themselves on TV?” he said. “I would love for it to be a staple for Amazon and for people to come in and say, ‘Oh, this is my happy place, this is a teachable moment, but I’m also going to laugh out loud.'”
