The Seattle Seahawks have returned to the NFL’s throne.

Twelve years after dominating the Denver Broncos for their first title, the Seahawks routed the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl 60 on Sunday night. Sam Darnold is a champion, while Mike Macdonald cemented his status as one of the best coaches in the league after guiding a dominant defense to a title.

As the Seahawks claimed the Lombardi Trophy, notable NFL figures, including former Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson, and celebrities, including Barack Obama, reacted to the team’s championship.

Here are some of the top reactions to the Seahawks winning Super Bowl 60.

SEAHAWKS WIN SUPER BOWL 60:

Seahawks Super Bowl reactions

Russell Wilson

Former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who won a Super Bowl with the franchise and appeared in another — the last Seattle Super Bowl appearance prior to Sunday — shared a message to the team’s fanbase.

“Go Hawks,” Wilson, who was also at the game, wrote.

Puka Nacua

Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua, whose team was eliminated by Seattle in the NFC Championship Game, shared a vague message on X after the Super Bowl.

Nacua’s tweet merely said “Sam Darnold” with a laughing emoji, leaving some fans questioning whether he was poking fun at the talent of Seattle’s title-winning quarterback.

Seahawks linebacker Ernest Jones responded to Nacua:

Nacua also gave a shoutout to his former teammate, Cooper Kupp.

Barack Obama

Former U.S. president Barack Obama congratulated the Seahawks for their second Super Bowl win.

Obama wrote that the Seahawks’ defense was “special,” Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker was “dominant,” and quarterback Sam Darnold “gave us one of the best comeback stories in a long time.”

Congratulations to the Super Bowl champion @Seahawks!
Tyler Lockett

Another former Seahawk, Tyler Lockett, gave a shoutout to Seattle fans for winning Super Bowl 60.

Congrats Seahawks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Congrats Hawks Nation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JJ Watt

Now-NFL analyst and former Defensive Player of the Year JJ Watt had high praise for Seattle’s defense, calling for the MVP award to be given to the entire unit.

Dez Bryant

Former Cowboys star Dez Bryant gave a specific shoutout to another former Cowboy and now-Seahawk, DeMarcus Lawrence.

The Seattle Seahawks survived a heavyweight NFC championship game against the Los Angeles Rams, in large part thanks to the contributions of Sam Darnold.

The veteran quarterback played one of the best games of his career, totaling 346 passing yards and three touchdowns in the 31-27 win. While Darnold didn’t need to do much in the Divisional Round against the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle would not have made the Super Bowl without him.

Darnold will become the third Seahawks starting quarterback to play in a Super Bowl, along with Matt Hasselbeck and Russell Wilson. While Wilson’s Seattle tenure ended on a sour note, he had no problem praising the Seahawks’ new quarterback for his accomplishment.

Here’s what Wilson said after the Seahawks’ win.

MORE SEAHAWKS-RAMS NEWS:

Russell Wilson praises Sam Darnold

Russell Wilson was the last quarterback to take the Seahawks to the Super Bowl, but despite the breakup between the two sides, Wilson doesn’t seem to have any ill will towards the organization. In fact, Wilson praised Sam Darnold for leading Seattle back to the Super Bowl after going through so much adversity.

Wilson also firmly put his support behind the Seahawks and Darnold for the Super Bowl in two weeks.

Sam Darnold’s comeback story over the past 2 years has been one of the most inspirational things to watch! Cool seeing him overcome!!! Congrats bro.Hope you win it! 🏆Go Hawks

Darnold has played for five teams in his eight NFL seasons and was cast aside last offseason despite leading the Minnesota Vikings to 14 wins. Darnold signed a three-year contract with the Seahawks in the offseason to be the team’s starting quarterback, but many didn’t believe he’d be able to lead Seattle to the final game of the season.

Now, Darnold has a chance to avenge Wilson’s last Super Bowl appearance, which was a loss to the Patriots over a decade ago.

Hey, the Indianapolis Colts already did it, right?

Maybe the Denver Broncos should take a swing for the fences and find an all-time great quarterback to take over after Bo Nix fractured his ankle at the end of the Divisional Round win over the Buffalo Bills.

Jarrett Stidham is set to step in as the starter, with Sam Ehlinger as his backup.

Is that enough to win a Super Bowl?

The Broncos likely think so, but their fanbase might want better.

So let’s get a little crazy. No idea is too outlandish here, even if these guys are quite old and potentially all washed up.

Can the Broncos sign Tom Brady?

Brady fits one criteria to be signed, but he’s got a problem, too, so no.

He would be a free agent, because he retired from the NFL when his contract with the Buccaneers ended.

But his ownership stake in the Raiders would prevent him from playing for a different team.

The league could technically approve him to play for a different team while still having an ownership stake, but that seems unlikely.

Can the Broncos sign Cam Newton?

Yes, the Broncos can sign Newton.

He’s not even officially retired, and he’s a free agent.

He even mocked the fact that Rivers signed earlier this season. Cam would certainly be confident in his own abilities.

Can the Broncos sign Russell Wilson?

No, the Broncos can’t sign Russ.

They’re actually still paying him more than $30 million as dead cap hit, but he ended the regular season under active roster contract with the New York Giants, so he wouldn’t be a free agent until the new league year in March.

Can the Broncos sign Aaron Rodgers?

No, the Broncos can’t sign Rodgers.

He’ll be a free agent when the new league year begins in March, but he isn’t officially available yet.

Can the Broncos sign Jameis Winston?

No, the Broncos can’t sign Sean Payton’s old buddy Jameis.

He won’t officially be a free agent until the new league year begins in March.

Who is the Broncos’ new QB?

Unless the Broncos want to get wild and sign Cam Newton, it looks like Jarrett Stidham is their guy the rest of the way.

The Sacramento Kings went all-in on a win-now mentality, but it seems to have blown up in their faces. They’re 8-27, and second-to-last in the Western Conference.

However, if they aren’t ready to wave the white flag, there’s a move they can make to try to make a turnaround. Fansided’s Christopher Kline believes that move would be trading for four-time All-Star point guard Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks.

“The Sacramento Kings are once again underperforming relative to the naive expectations of ownership and their front office. The De’Aaron Fox trade left the Kings without a legitimate point guard, while the Domantas Sabonis injury left an already-flawed roster without its primary engine…Young gives Sacramento a guiding light of a kind, and if any team is foolish enough to keep full-steam ahead on the path to mediocrity, it’s the Kings. The defensive concerns would be vast, but Young and LaVine is a tantalizing offensive duo, and once Sabonis returns, the Kings would have the ability to run some fun stuff. It’s worth keeping an eye on, whether it’s the “right” move or not” Cassels wrote.

So far this season, Young is averaging 19.3 points, 8.9 assists, 1.5 assists, and one steal in 28 minutes per game. However, due to injury, he’s only played in 10 games this season.

Usually, when fully healthy, Young has career averages of 25.2 points, 9.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and one steal per game. This year’s also an outlier, as he’s never played fewer than 54 games in the seven seasons he’s played before this one.

If Young can get healthy, a Big Three centered around him, Zach LaVine, and Domantas Sabonis could be scary. Hopefully, Sacramento gets on the phone with Atlanta and starts some type of negotiations.

Russell Wilson used to be considered among the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

The quarterback spent the first 10 seasons of his career with the Seattle Seahawks and had an unprecedented amount of success with the team. Wilson made Pro Bowls in nine of those 10 seasons. won a Super Bowl, and ended as the Seahawks’ all-time passing leader.

However, Wilson’s career has gone sharply downhill since leaving Seattle. The passer was traded to the Denver Broncos ahead of the 2022 season, and inked a massive five-year, $245 million extension.

Wilson only lasted two seasons in Denver before being cut though after his production fell off a cliff. The veteran latched on with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, but it didn’t work out there either.

In 2025, Wilson began the season as the starter for the New York Giants, but lasted only three games before getting benched for Jaxson Dart. Even when Dart got hurt later in the season, the Giants inserted Jameis Winston as the starter instead of Wilson.

Wilson’s stock has probably never been lower, but NFL reporter Michael Ritter wants people to remember how good Wilson was.

“2017-2020 Russell Wilson would be the best QB in the NFL if he played today,” Ritter boldly declared on X.

Wilson took note of the post and shared a cryptic reply to it.

“Man… I gotta get back to Ballin’ & being Me. Back to my First 10. It’s time. Time to go Dark,” said Wilson.

Some had wondered whether Wilson was close to hanging the cleats up. During the Giants’ Week 14 bye, Wilson appeared as a guest analyst on “The NFL Today,” suggesting a possible interest in that career path.

However, Wilson wants it to be known that he’s not giving up on his NFL career just yet.

What’s next for Russell Wilson?

Wilson signed a one-year, $10.5 million deal with the Giants last offseason. The veteran clearly doesn’t have a future in New York, though, after falling behind Dart and Winston on the depth chart.

Wilson has played in six games in 2025 and has 831 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. The vet

It may seem like Wilson doesn’t have much value at this point, but he’s still one of the most accomplished passers of his generation. Wilson also shouldn’t command much money on the market, and it’s likely some teams will think they can fix him.

Wilson is likely past his days as an unquestioned starter, but it’s possible he could find a second wind. It will be interesting to see what interest the quarterback gets in the offseason.

Having a star like Luka Doncic for the Los Angeles Lakers obviously changes a lot for the organization moving forward.

Had the Lakers known they were going to make a move for Doncic a year ago, things would likely be different right now in terms of their roster.

However, it’s also important to give the Lakers some credit for the team they’ve built, as they’re currently 12-4 and in second place in the Western Conference.

Reports have started to surface that the Lakers could be interested in Miami Heat wing Andrew Wiggins, who would be a nice piece to a team looking to win a championship.

Wiggins is a tough player to evaluate at this stage of his career, as he was likely a bit better during his days with the Golden State Warriors when the team won a championship, and he was a defensive-minded wing.

For those reasons and some others, Bleacher Report’s Erik Beaston doesn’t believe it’d be in the Lakers’ best interest to go out and make a trade for him despite the rumors.

“Finding ways to maximize what the future Hall of Famer and potential greatest of all time brings to the table at this point in his career, while being mindful of load management and not letting games get away from them in the process is of the utmost importance.

“The last thing they can afford is to trade some of the expiring contracts on the roster (Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Maxi Kleber, Jaxson Hayes) for Wiggins and risk disrupting chemistry or momentum,” he wrote.

Beaston’s comments make sense, especially after the Lakers made a blockbuster deal for Russell Westbrook and traded most of their depth just for it not to work out.

There’s always a possibility of that happening, so Rob Pelinka will have to be very smart in the moves he wants to make and also remind himself that he can wait a bit longer to go all in because of how young Doncic is.

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton just took part in one of the wildest games in the history of the franchise, which saw the team stumble along through three quarters before exploding for 33 points in the fourth quarter to stun the New York Giants.

With the win, the Broncos improve to 5-2 on the season and currently sit atop the standings in the AFC West following their fourth straight victory.

Though plenty of negative questions were surely lined up for Payton had the Broncos lost this game, that come-from-behind win created a completely different post-game narrative. When addressing the media, Payton shared some thoughts on the Giants’ QB situation.

“They found a little spark with that quarterback. I was talking to John Mara (Giants owner) not too long ago and I said we were hoping that that change would have happened long after our game”, said Payton.

What he is referencing there is that he was hoping that the Giants wouldn’t choose to make Jaxson Dart their starter until after the two teams played. In saying that, Payton is describing that he would have preferred to play against his former quarterback, Russell Wilson.

It is no secret that Payton and Wilson did not see eye to eye during their lone season together in Denver, which saw Wilson benched toward the end of that season in favor of Jarrett Stidham. Wilson began this season as the starter for the Giants but that lasted just three games and the switch was made to Dart. That has proven to be a great decision, and one that has a good chance of saving Brian Daboll his job as the Giants’ head coach.

Dart threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns while running for another one against the Broncos on Sunday, showing himself to be a future star in the league. Payton knows the Broncos dodged a bullet in this one, but he’ll take it.

As if the Denver Broncos pulling off a historic victory over the New York Giants on Sunday wasn’t bad enough for Big Blue, Broncos head coach Sean Payton just couldn’t help but throw shade at quarterback Russell Wilson after the game.

There’s probably no love lost between the head coach and quarterback, who reportedly had a dicey relationship during their days together in Denver.

In Payton’s first year, the offense was a disaster with Wilson at the helm and we saw Payton give Wilson the business on multiple occasions. Then the Broncos cut Wilson the following offseason, even though Denver had to eat a ton of money.

After the Broncos pulled off an unthinkable win over the Giants in Week 7 that saw Denver overcome an 18-point deficit with under six minutes left, which made NFL history (teams were 1,062-0 before the Broncos accomplished the feat), Payton threw shade at Wilson.

In his post-game presser, Payton admitted he told Giants owner John Mara not to make the switch to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart before the game against the Broncos.

Of course, the inference there is that Payton thinks the rookie is better than the veteran and he would’ve rather faced Wilson than Dart.

“They found a little spark with that quarterback,” he said, according to video from SNY. “I was talking to John Mara not too long ago and I said we were hoping that change (from Wilson to Dart) would’ve happened long after our game.

To be fair to Payton, he was proven right.

Dart has been a clear upgrade over Wilson, who has looked like a shell of the quarterback he once was with the Seattle Seahawks.

And Payton had a front-row seat for Wilson’s demise in Denver.

Now, he has a promising young quarterback in Bo Nix and the Broncos are moving in the right direction as a result.

Meanwhile, in New York, Dart offers a bright future for Big Blue, but the black cloud that is the reigns of head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen still loom over the franchise.

Two awful offensive games with Jake Browning starting for an injured Joe Burrow that pushed the Cincinnati Bengals from 2-0 to 2-2 should be more than enough to make them want to make a big change.

Although there’s been speculation on which QB the Bengals could acquire for an upgrade over their struggling backup, there’s one that makes perfect sense: Russell Wilson.

Wilson was born almost 37 years ago in Cincinnati. In the wake of his disappointing post-Seahawks whirlwind that’s seen him disappoint with the Broncos, Steelers and Giants over four seasons, Wilson needs one last shot at some late-career redemption.

His time in New York as a starter lasted only three games, with rookie first-rounder Jaxson Dart slated to be the No. 1 QB the rest of the 2025 NFL season. The Giants also happen to have another veteran backup with ideal makeup, Jameis Winston.

There’s no reason for Giants to keep Wilson. The Bengals have every reason to go hard after Wilson now and not Winston or Kirk Cousins or any other QB. There will be no need to give up much in the way of draft capital and Wilson also is making only $10.5 million this season.

Will Russell Wilson improve the Cincinnati Bengals’ offense?

Why Wilson, besides the reasonable cost to take a shot an improving a dire quarterback situation? The Bengals have $276 million in total contract value invested in their talented top wide receiver duo, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Chase and Higgins have been frustrated and turned into low-level producers with Browning not playing the supersub he was in 2022.

The Bengals need a QB who will get those receivers the ball and get the offense back to stretching the field. With their lingering pass protection issues, they also could benefit from a more mobile passer known for extending plays to hit on deep balls.

Before Wilson was benched after a bad Week 3 vs. the Chiefs’ tough defense, he lit up the Cowboys’ weak pass defense for 450 yards, getting big days out of two receivers, Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson. That should be evidence enough that Wilson can still provide a spark if there’s some support around him.

He no longer is capable of carrying passing games like he did in his early Seattle prime, before he had receivers the caliber of Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. However, Wilson can be lifted by the play of Chase and Higgins and the duo’s immense versatile route-running and big-play talent.

Browning did draw two tough pressure defenses on the road in his first two fill-in starts, at Minnesota and at Denver. But despite the degree of difficult, an offense with that much skill and the receiver position shouldn’t disappear. Browning has worsened an already deflating situation.

The Bengals, 2-2 with Burrow out until at least mid December, still can rally, but they need someone who has the potential to help them win some shootouts. With Browning, they have no shot of scoring enough to upset the Detroit Lions in Week 5. Then it’s back to another defensive challenge on the road against the Packers in Green Bay.

What do the Bengals have to lose by rolling the dice on Wilson?

Browning has proved he won’t help the Bengals win as much as they need to without Burrow. Wilson at the very worst would make them fun to watch and not waste another year of Chase and Higgins’ well-paid prime.

The results of the upcoming Lions and Packers games aside, who wouldn’t want to see Wilson in a revenge prime-time game vs. Aaron Rodgers and the AFC North-leading 3-1 Steelers at home on a Thursday night?

Browning vs. the Steelers? You already know what will happen with the overwhelmed backup facing a T.J. Watt-led pass rush that just posted six sacks in Week 4.

The Bengals should be willing to get Wilson and the Giants should want to deal him or something. Otherwise, it’s a waste for him and Cincinnati.

The New York Giants lost a thriller last week against the Dallas Cowboys, providing confidence that the team could get its first win of the year in Week 3. However, that was not the case as quarterback Russell Wilson couldn’t replicate his success.

Wilson was one of the better performers in the NFL last week, but he struggled mightily against the Kansas City Chiefs on “Sunday Night Football.” The veteran quarterback led an offense that scored just one touchdown and nine points overall on the night, as New York lost to Kansas City 22-9.

Here’s a look at how Wilson’s performance could impact the Giants’ plans.

Will the Giants bench Russell Wilson?

With the loss, the Giants are now 0-3 and headed towards another season without the playoffs if they can’t turn it around. Despite Wilson’s success in Week 2 against the Cowboys, the veteran has now struggled in two of the first three games this year.

Therefore, it is only a matter of time until the Giants bench Wilson in favor of Jaxson Dart, but it is hard to tell when that will happen. New York has a tough schedule this year and presumably want to continue competing this year without worrying too much about Dart’s development.

After the game, head coach Brian Daboll declined to answer a question about whether Wilson will start next week.

“You guys have asked me about guys after games,” he said, via Connor Hughes. “I’m not going to answer that.”

Russell Wilson stats

Completions/Attempts: 18/32

Passing yards: 160

Yards per attempt: 5.0

Wilson had another tough performance on Sunday night, as he threw two more interceptions and failed to score a touchdown. It is officially his worst performance of the season in most statistical categories, and the spotlight only gets brighter on the Giants QB room.

The Giants have one of the toughest schedules in the league, making it tough to predict when the team will start Dart. The Los Angeles Chargers look like one of the best teams in the league, making Week 4 a brutal option, so Wilson likely gets at least one more week.

Perhaps the softest landing spot for Dart is against the New Orleans Saints in Week 5, but that game is still on the road. Additionally, that game is immediately followed by a Thursday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles and a tough road trip to play both Philadelphia and the Denver Broncos.
