After a near-decade of dominance, the Golden State Warriors are finally breaking down, with a record of 32-33 and ninth place in the Western Conference. With that, their dynasty might finally be done, unless they make a big move this offseason.

FanSided’s Christopher Kline believes they might, and could pursue one of the premier players in the NBA in Philadelphia 76ers franchise star Joel Embiid. While Embiid is not his prime self, he’s still one of the most dominant centers in the NBA.

“If the Sixers decide it’s time to pivot toward the future, however, offloading Embiid’s contract is theoretically step No. 1. He’s still a dominant offensive force when healthy. Few players command so much attention as soon as they touch the rock. The Sixers probably won’t get much value relative to Embiid’s talent, but for the Warriors, it’s not illogical to cough up a couple first-round picks just to see what happens. On paper, Embiid and Steph is the most dangerous offensive duo in the NBA. Embiid commands a double every time in the post, and he has a long history of working with gravity shooters on the perimeter. All those countless DHO actions for JJ Redick or Tyrese Maxey would be doubly effective with Steph. If the Dubs can find a way to keep Jimmy Butler, too, that reunites Embiid with perhaps his favorite NBA teammate to date. Embiid and Curry were partners at Under Armour once upon a time, so there’s an established relationship there. This probably is not as crazy as it sounds, even if the risk potentially outweighs the reward,” Kline wrote.

So far this season, Embiid is averaging 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.1 blocks in 31 minutes per game, although he’s only played in 33 games. It’s wise to keep in mind Embiid is made of glass and is incredibly injury-prone, as the most games he’s ever played in a season is 68.

Embiid also just signed a three-year, $188 million extension, with a player option for year three of it. As long as the Warriors are willing to accept that and his fragility, this could be a perfect move for them.

As long as they can get 50 games out of Embiid in the regular season, there’s no reason they can’t be a top team in the West next year. Hopefully, the Dubs find a way to make it happen, and give Steph Curry one final Big Three to make a Finals run.

The Golden State Warriors aren’t legitimate playoff contenders in early-March, and there’s no guarantee the seven-time NBA champions will even reach the postseason this year.

Stephen Curry is still dealing with a nagging knee injury that has sidelined him since late January, and following a rough six-game stretch (1-5), the Warriors are 32-33 and hold the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference (Play-In territory).

Simply put, the remainder of the 2025-26 season doesn’t offer much hope for the Dubs, which should prompt them to begin pondering offseason moves that could help them begin the 2026-27 campaign on a positive note.

Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale is under the impression that the 29-year-old seven-time All-Star would be a viable summer trade target for Golden State.

“Stephen Curry is almost 40, has missed games, blah, blah, blahty blah,” Favale wrote Wednesday. “So long as he’s on this roster and operating, when healthy, at an All-NBA level, the Golden State Warriors are obligated to pursue all-in moves until the wheels fall off. At the very least, they must pretend that’s what they’re doing.”

“Going on 30 in September, Donovan Mitchell is young enough (or close to it) for the Warriors to peddle him as their ticket to immediate contention and bridge into the future. They should cross their fingers for the Cleveland Cavaliers flame out of the playoffs, again, and open themselves up to an offseason roster-razing.”

Mitchell’s stellar offensive play this season has been integral to the Cavaliers’ ability to rebound from their sluggish 17-16 start. The Louisville product will never shy away from his responsibilities as Cleveland’s No. 1 scoring option, enabling him to take control of games late and put the Cavaliers on his back when necessary.

The explosive and quick-twitch 6-foot-2 superstar is averaging 28.3 points, 5.8 assists, and 4.5 rebounds on a 40-26 Cavaliers squad, shooting 48.0% from the field and 36.6% from beyond the arc.

Adding James Harden to the fold before the Feb. 5 trade deadline has done wonders for the Cavaliers thus far, providing them with a high-level shot creator/playmaker who fits better alongside Mitchell than Darius Garland did.

If a potential early postseason exit opens the door for an offseason trade involving Mitchell, the Warriors should be prepared to monitor it closely. Winning the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes will be the franchise’s primary focus this summer.

Still, there’s no denying that Mitchell would be among the best backup trade options for the Warriors in the upcoming months.

The Los Angeles Clippers’ 34-year-old star forward isn’t set to be a free agent until 2027.

The two-time NBA champion is in the midst of completing the second year of his three-year $149 million contract extension he inked with the Clippers in 2024, meaning a trade must be completed for him to leave Los Angeles this summer.

However, Yahoo Sports’ Tom Haberstroh believes there’s a world in which the Los Angeles Lakers could battle the Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks for the two-time NBA Finals MVP’s services this summer.

“Maybe it’s a case where Adam Silver levies some sort of punishment, whether it’s forcing Kawhi Leonard’s contract to be invalidated,” Haberstroh stated last Monday. And I think that would be one of the things that is on the table, because that is what David Stern did with the Joe Smith cap circumvention with the Minnesota Timberwolves decades ago.”

“The interesting thing on that is it provides a conundrum where I think if Kawhi Leonard is now a free agent, you’re now going to see a frenzy for his services, with the likes of the Lakers, with the likes of the Golden State Warriors, or the New York Knicks.”

“They would try to go get Kawhi Leonard at this stage as a free agent. That would create more hysteria and chaos around the league.”

While Haberstroh’s idea is undoubtedly far-fetched, it isn’t completely out of the equation. If it somehow materializes, the Lakers could position themselves to sign the accomplished veteran after striking out on him in 2019 (he entered free agency after winning a title with the Toronto Raptors and eventually joined the Clippers).

Leonard’s two-way dominance when healthy would make him an ideal fit in JJ Redick’s system in Los Angeles. The San Diego State product is contributing 28.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.0 steals per game with the Clippers this season, shooting 49.4% from the field and 38.1% from three-point land in 44 contests.

If anything, Haberstroh’s report emphasizes the importance of closely monitoring Leonard’s situation in Los Angeles.

Few Formula 1 drivers command the kind of immediate, fervent adoration that seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton receives whenever he arrives in Brazil.

For the nation that lost its most cherished sporting icon, Ayrton Senna, Hamilton has transcended the paddock to become a figure of profound inspiration and emotional resonance.

This deep affection is not solely built on race victories but on a powerful cultural and personal bond that Hamilton has actively cultivated over his career, making the Brazilian Grand Prix feel like a spiritual homecoming.

The enduring shadow of Senna

Lewis Hamilton frequently cites Senna as his childhood hero, an open admiration that instantly endeared him to the passionate Brazilian fanbase.

Hamilton has not merely acknowledged Senna; he has paid homage to Senna’s legacy at every opportunity, including wearing helmet designs inspired by the Brazilian legend and visiting his memorial.

This visible reverence resonates deeply in a country where Senna’s memory remains sacred.

📲 Follow The Jugo Mobile on WhatsApp

The connection is mutual, with Hamilton often describing the atmosphere at Interlagos as unparalleled.

In 2022, Hamilton was made an honorary citizen of Brazil, an honour he called the “greatest honour” of his life, cementing his place in the country’s cultural fabric.

A shared spirit of fighting against the odds

Beyond the shared icon, many Brazilian fans connect with Hamilton’s personal journey as a trailblazing driver from a working-class background, rising through a sport historically dominated by European elites.

It is understood that Brazil’s strong appreciation for inclusivity and awareness of racial history has led fans to deeply respect Hamilton’s achievements in overcoming prejudice to reach the pinnacle of motorsport.

Fans feel they can relate to his passion and his willingness to fight against the odds, both on and off the track.

This shared recognition of struggle and eventual triumph fosters a unique sense of kinship.

This emotional connection was palpable in 2021 when Hamilton famously drove a victory lap draped in the Brazilian flag at Interlagos, a gesture widely seen as a deeply meaningful gesture of respect towards the nation.

Longtime Cowboys guard Zack Martin is retiring from the NFL at 34 years-old after 11 seasons in the league, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports.

Dallas drafted Martin in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft, and the Notre Dame product became a stalwart on the Cowboys’ offensive line. He played in 162 games over the course of his career, playing in every game of the regular season seven times in 11 years.

Martin became one of the best players in Cowboys history for his play on the interior offensive line, and his retirement will certainly be felt in the organization. Here’s the breakdown of Martin’s decision to move on from football.

Why did Zack Martin retire from the NFL?

At 34 years-old, Martin is coming off a season in which he missed seven games, the most in one season in his NFL career. The veteran had just one year left on his contract with the Cowboys but likely felt he couldn’t perform at a high level anymore after finishing last year on injured reserve.

Zack Martin’s career achievements

Martin ends his career with nine Pro Bowl appearances, seven first-team All-Pro appearances and an appearance on the All-2010’s team. The guard made the All-Rookie team and was the runner-up for Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2014 to Odell Beckham Jr. Here’s his full list of achievements:

9x Pro-Bowler

7x First-Team All-Pro

2x Second-Team All-Pro

NFL 2010s All-Decade Team

Throughout his entire career, Martin had just seven holding calls in 11 seasons.

Zack Martin retires from the NFL with more All-Pro selections (9) than accepted holding penalties (7).

What a stat. What a career. ? https://t.co/2ADSKY0R5S pic.twitter.com/93lkgFRwoP

Additionally, all of those calls came in the running game as Martin was never called for holding in a pass play.

Zack Martin had 6,659 pass pro snaps in his 11-yr career

Will Zack Martin get into the Hall of Fame?

Martin certainly has a strong hall of fame case as he was one of the best interior offensive linemen over the past decade. The guard will be eligible to make the hall of fame in five years, assuming he doesn’t decide to come out of retirement, and he will have a legitimate chance to make the hall on his first try.

In total, here is the list of offensive guards who’ve made it to Canton:

Bruce Matthews

Randall McDaniel

John Hannah

Alan Faneca

Larry Allen

Larry Little

Steve Hutchinson

Jerry Kramer

Gene Upshaw

Will Shields

Russ Grimm

Joe DeLamielleure

Gene Hickerson

Billy Shaw

Mike Munchak

Tom Mack

Dick Stanfel

Mike Michalske

Dan Fortman

Reactions from Cowboys fans, teammates and peers

Martin played his entire career for the Cowboys, making him one of the most beloved players in franchise history. As a result, the Cowboys community, and the NFL community overall, had nothing but great things to say about Martin in retirement.

With Martin retiring, the Cowboys have a hole at right guard as backup T.J. Bass temporarily slots into the starting spot.

Last year, Beebe stabilized the center position, while Steele played every snap at right tackle. Tyler Smith played both 90 percent of the snaps at either left tackle and left guard, and Guyton played over half the snaps at left tackle, with all four starters set to return next year.
