TV’s (or streaming’s) favorite football manager could be making a comeback in the next few years.

The world hasn’t seen the last of Ted Lasso and AFC Richmond, as it was announced Saturday that a fourth season of the series is in the works. Originally envisioned as a three-season arc by “Ted Lasso” co-creator Jason Sudeikis, the idea of continuing the story after Season 3 ended was never completely ruled out.

Sudeikis & Co. have so far garnered 13 Emmys for the series, which became Apple+’s flagship and most-watched original show after its August 2020 premiere.

Here’s everything you need to know about the “Ted Lasso” Season 4 announcement, as the Apple+ series is expected to return with an as-yet-undetermined release date.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Rumors

A Deadline exclusive report In a statement released Saturday, Warner Bros. Television, which specializes in “Ted Lasso,” revealed that it has retained three members of the original cast who were hired under the auspices of British actors’ union Equity.

The cast includes Hannah Waddingham, or AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton, Brett Goldstein, or the headstrong Roy Kent, and Jeremy Swift, who plays Leslie Higgins, the beloved director of football operations.

The studio has reportedly only just begun reaching out to actors with SAG-AFRA contracts whose options have expired. New deals will need to be struck with those actors, such as Sudeikis, or Lasso himself, Brendan Hunt and Juno Temple.

It’s unclear who exactly will be contacted for a guest appearance in Season 4, but a writers’ room is reportedly being put together. Still, much of the show’s success hinges on Sudeikis’ cooperation.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Release Date

Deadline reports that if all goes well, production on a fourth season could potentially begin in early 2025. That means Apple+ likely won’t release any new episodes until at least the end of next year.
