Directed by Arkasha Stevenson in her feature film debut,The first omenIt is the sixth film of theOmenfranchise and a direct prequel from 1976The Omen. While The Omen told the story of a couple who, unknowingly, are raising the child of the antichrist, The first omen tells the story of the young American nun (played by Nell Tiger Free) who stumbles upon the conspiracy to father the Antichrist’s child in the first place.
Although The first omen is a prequel that pretty clearly sets up the events of Richard Donner’s 1976 horror film. The OmenThe prequel film also leaves room for even more Omen prequel films, also starring Free’s character.

The first omen plot summary:
The film begins with Father Brennan (Ralph Ineson) questioning a fellow priest, Father Harris (Charles Dance), about a conspiracy to father an anti-Christ child. Father Harris gives Father Brennan a photograph of a baby with the word “Scianna” written on it. Then Father Harris is killed by a falling window. Hey!
Fast forward to 1971, where Margaret (Free) is a young American nun in training sent to complete her training at an orphanage in Rome. Margaret takes a special interest in a troubled teenage orphan named Carlita (Nicole Sorace). The other nuns don’t like Carlita. She is often punished for her problematic behavior, such as drawing disturbing pictures of pregnant women and attacking other orphans. Margaret sympathizes with Carlita, because Margaret was also labeled a “problem child” when she was little, due to the disturbing visions she had.
Margaret joins her adventurous roommate for a night out. She drinks a lot, starts dancing with a man named Paolo (Andrea Arcangeli) and passes out on her. She wakes up in the orphanage with no memory of how she spent the rest of the night. Shortly afterward, Father Brennan approaches Margaret in a public square and warns her to stay away from Carlita, whom she calls “Scianna.” Brennan says “bad things” will start happening around her.
Margaret ignores him at first, but then witnesses a pregnant nun give birth to a demon child. Margaret thinks she was just seeing things. But soon after, another nun, Anjelica, commits suicide after Carlita shows her a disturbing drawing of a pregnant woman. Margaret reunites with Brennan and he tells her that there is a secret plot in the Church to father an antichrist child. Because? To give the public something to fear and therefore bring them back to the Church.
Margaret snoops around the orphanage and discovers files on “Scianna.” She reviews the files with Father Brennan and they discover that more than a dozen women have been raped by the devil in an attempt to father the antichrist. Most of the babies die, but at least one survived and received a mark. Margaret remembers that Carlita has the mark on the roof of her mouth. But the surviving baby in Father Brennan’s photograph has the mark on his scalp. You probably know where this is going: Father Brennan examines Margaret’s head and discovers that yes, she has that mark. Two babies raised by Satan survived: Margaret and her half-sister Carlita.
Margaret’s memories of that dark night at the club return. She remembers that a Satan-like creature tied her to a table and ritually raped her. Apparently, the Church believes that the devil needs to mate with his own offspring, also known as Margaret, to father the child of the antichrist. Carlita was too young, so Margaret was taken to Rome to become a vessel for Satan’s baby. Oh!
The first omen ending explained:
Margaret asks Father Brennan to help her get an abortion and he agrees. But on the way to the doctor, Margaret’s stomach bloats up. The antichrist briefly possesses Margaret and she passes out. She wakes up in a dungeon, tied to a table by her former friend and mentor, Cardinal Lawrence (Bill Nighy), as well as other nuns at the orphanage. They ignore her cries of pain and Margaret gives birth to twins. The first child is a girl, and girls, apparently, cannot be the antichrist. God forbid women do anything! But the second child is a boy. Yes, he is the antichrist!
Margaret manages to free herself and kills Cardinal Lawrence. She also almost kills the antichrist’s baby, but she can’t bring herself to murder her own baby. Margaret’s old roommate stabs her. The nuns take the Antichrist’s child, set fire to the dungeon and leave Margaret and her little daughter to die. Luckily, Carlita shows up at the last minute to save both Margaret and the girl. The antichrist child, Damien, is sent to live with an American diplomat and his wife, also known as the main characters of the 1976 film. The Omen.
The first omen ends with an “Avengers Initiative”-style epilogue that takes place several years later. Margaret, Carlita, and Margaret’s young daughter live together in a remote cabin in the mountains. Her peaceful existence is interrupted by Father Brennan, who warns Margaret that the Church knows she is alive.
“You weren’t supposed to survive, none of you did,” Brennan says. “Especially the girl. She will be important, Margaret.

The first omen 2 It hasn’t been officially announced yet, but The first omen It certainly sets up a new horror franchise starring Nell Tiger Free.
We don’t know yet, but in an interview with Free for Jugo Mobile, the star hinted that she and director Arkasha Stevenson “talk about it all the time” about a possible sequel. “There’s no official talks or anything like that, but Kasha and I like to chat about it: what it would be like, what it would be called,” Free said.
The star added that he would be more than happy to return to the franchise for more. “I love history. I love the character. I’d jump in front of a train through Arkasha. So if it’s Arkasha, me and The Omen, I feel like I’d make a hundred of them.”
