Laikathe animation studio behind movies like Coraline has teamed up with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller for, uh, a live-action film.

Since its inception, Laika has carried out one factor: make stop-motion movies. It began with Coraline, a movie that has grow to be a cult following through the years since its launch, after which made movies like ParaNorman, Kubo and the Two Magical Stringsand Lacking hyperlinkthough it hasn’t achieved as a lot success as that first movie. As reported by VarietyLaika, Lord and Miller have teamed up for Crumble, an unique movie written by Brian Duffield (Cranium Island) that follows a married couple who embark on a globetrotting journey to discover a treatment for an historical curse. Duffield may even direct, with Lord and Miller serving as producers. “I’ll always remember the second I noticed ‘Coraline’ on opening evening on the AMC Burbank 16 and questioned who these great new geniuses had been,” Duffield stated in a press release. “I can’t wait to make a film with them and hopefully stay as much as their popularity, and I couldn’t be extra excited to have the ability to tackle a brand new journey with my associates at Lord Miller.”

General, the movie appears to be a part of a push for Laika to partially shift in the direction of live-action initiatives, because it even has a president of live-action movies and sequence, Matt Levin. In a press release, Levin stated, “We’re so excited to companion with Brian and the complete Lord Miller staff on this particular movie. Brian has such a singular voice, and Crumble completely embodies the daring, emotional, and creative storytelling we champion at Laika. Lord Miller is considered one of a sort, and we could not ask for a greater artistic staff to carry this story to life.”

Thankfully, this does not imply the top of stop-motion initiatives for Laika, because the studio is… Working on The Night Gardeneran unique story described as a uncooked neo-noir folks story.
