The San Antonio Spurs have defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 118-91 in Game 6. This win forces the two most exciting words in sports, “Game 7”.
This 27-point loss in an elimination game for the Thunder was surprising to say the least. San Antonio put up 35 points in the first quarter and set a tone almost immediately. The Spurs were the consistent aggressor in this game, and it was reflected in the score.
The third quarter of this game was almost baffling. There was a seven-minute stretch in the twelve-minute quarter where San Antonio held Oklahoma City completely scoreless. Within that seven-minute stretch, the Spurs went on a 20-0 run winning the 3rd quarter 32-13. More than doubling OKC’s total scoring for that quarter.
Statistically this game was not close after early in the first quarter. OKC would pull to within six to ten points back three times after that, but never got closer than -6. The Thunder did not possess one lead in this game, while the Spurs largest lead was +28.
This was yet another objectively bad statistical game for the reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Who finished with 15 points on 33% from the floor, 0-for-5 from three and only four assists. It was SGA’s worst offensive performance of the 2025-26 season. Regular or playoffs.
If OKC can bounce back in Game 7, one must believe SGA has to be the MVP version of SGA. When he doesn’t play well and Wemby does, they Spurs have won games in this matchup. As for Wemby, it wasn’t his best performance this series, but it was close. 28 points on 47% from the floor, 44% from three, 10 rebounds, four offensive and 3 blocks. Stephon Castle was on triple double watch for a stretch, finishing with 17 points, nine assists and five rebounds.
Both teams will now head back to Oklahoma City for Game 7. That game will tip off at 6pm EST and broadcast on NBC and the Peacock streaming app.
