Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min has celebrated a milestone as he marks nine years with the club since joining in 2015.

However, his feat quickly became a target for Arsenal fans, who took to social media to mock the South Korean star for his lack of trophies with Spurs.

Nine years of excellence but no trophy

Son has been a standout performer at Tottenham since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 for a then-record fee for an Asian footballer. Over the years, he has become one of the most consistent players in the Premier League, known for his speed, skill and goalscoring ability.

His impact on the pitch was immense, making him a fan favourite and earning him the club captaincy.

Tottenham’s official X account (formerly Twitter) celebrated Son’s ninth birthday with a message that read: “Our captain then and now.” The message highlighted his career and contributions to the team over the years. But the celebrations were short-lived as Arsenal fans saw it as an opportunity to troll their north London rivals.

Arsenal fans engage in violent demonstration

Despite Son’s personal achievements and his status as one of Tottenham’s greatest players of all time, Arsenal fans were quick to point out the one glaring gap in his CV: a major trophy.

The mockery began almost immediately after Tottenham’s post, with Arsenal fans flooding social media with comments about Son’s lack of trophies during his time with the club.

One fan tweeted: “0 trophies since,” while another added: “AAAANNNDDDD STILL ZEROOOOOOOOO TROPHIESSSSS.”

Trolls have pointed out that despite his individual talent, Son has yet to lift a major trophy with Tottenham, a fact that remains a sore point for both player and fans.

While Son continues to excel on the pitch, leading Spurs to numerous important victories and thrilling performances, the lack of a trophy remains a talking point. The pressure is on Tottenham and their manager, Ange Postecoglou, to finally deliver a trophy and silence the critics.
